Some
friendly advice on writing fan mail and what to expect:
Please think before
you write. Keep it short, sweet, honest and to the point. Don't gush
and try not to use the word 'awesome' more than once!
The best thing to
expect when you write a letter to Yancy (or any celebrity for that matter)
is that it might get delivered. Your letter will likely not be
read by Yancy first, since she is probably very busy and for her safety
and privacy, letters that contain disturbing content or unusual requests
will not be turned over to her.
If you are requesting
a photograph or other promotional item (signed or not) be aware that
the cost might be prohibitive.
Sometimes a star may have a service that can open their mail and then
reply with a signed photo. Yancy seems to be using T.M.C.E. (Tom Monjack
Celebrity Enterprises) for such a purpose.
Please remember
that when requesting an autograph, include a self-addressed stamped
envelope.
Consider adding postage or an IRC (International Reply Coupon) to your
letter. Don't expect the postage to be returned if there is no reply.
Try not to be disappointed
if it seems that your letter was ignored. Chances are that it wasn't
ignored, but in reality Yancy may not even have seen it or was not able
to respond to your request. Don't take it personally!
Yancy has no known
email address! If you do find one, chances are it is a fake.
I personally got
a signed photograph in response to a letter after about 5 months. And
I know of a few other fans who got responses within less than a year.
Keep trying and
good luck!
