....Welsh just finished filming Witchblade, the action-fantasy TV movie/series pilot made here for TNT. Neither Welsh nor his pre-teen son Devon were familiar with the popular comic book on which it's based. "He only reads Mad magazine, which I totally approve of because I read it when I was his age," he says. Welsh plays a police detective who is surrogate father to crime-fighting heroine Sara Pezzini (Yancy Butler). Welsh and Butler go back a long way -- to when he was on Broadway in The Real Thing and she was a kid running around backstage. Her mom was the producer's business manager. "She's pretty wild, a very funny girl," Welsh says. "She's outrageously cheeky and funny. Just terrific."....
