The
lovely android from Mann and Machine stars as Sara Pezzini in TNT's comic
book-based TV movie.
Remember
when we said we'd be happy as long as the actress cast as Sara Pezzini
in TNT's Witchblade TV movie didn't have a resume that consisted solely
of Baywatch guest spots? Well, looks like we're in luck...
The
lucky lady who will embody Sara onscreen is none other than Yancy Butler,
who some of you will remember as "the chick in Hard Target." Others might
recall her stint on the short-lived Mann and Machine (all about a crazy
cop and his straitlaced android partner), or as one of the cops in Steven
Bochco's Brooklyn South. She does, however, appear to be Baywatch free.
But
wait! Her co-star is a different story. David Chokachi, who is also known
for running in slow motion up the beach as "Cody" on everyone's favorite
lifeguard series, will play Detective Jake McCarthy, Sara's partner.
The
movie, which, if all goes well, will serve as a pilot for a series, begins
production up in Toronto in several weeks. As previously reported , the
pilot script was penned by J.D. Zeik, who also wrote Ronin. This script
is supposed to be faithful to the first eight issues of the book (previous
versions were not).
On
that note, we'll leave you with a final Yancy Butler fun fact -- her fans
(who are quite dedicated, by the way) refer to themselves as "Yancelots."
