Guild Wars fall under the action, role-playing game category. The story, the world and the monsters are fantasy-like. New races of beings, like the lion-like Char are fresh from the common archetypes of monsters that are found across other titles.
The game play is by default 3rd person view, however user can customize the player's perspective by zooming in or out with the mouse scroll to make it first player type or a high third person view.
