California's Route 505

617. Route 505 is from Route 80 near Vacaville to Route 5 near Dunnigan. F&E System Entire route. [CS&HC Sec. 253.1] Freeway Entire route. Status Signed as an Interstate highway. History According to Daniel Faigin, Route 505 was approved as a chargeable Interstate in 1947. At one time, it was signed as I-5W, a short-lived suffixed route that continued south toward Oakland and back to Route 5 via nowaday Routes 80 and 580. The freeway was constructed in three sections: the first one between Route 16 and Route 128; the next from I-5 to Route 16; and the final from Route 16 to I-80. Construction began in 1972. The freeway was completed by 1978. What's more, in 1972 there were two additional sections of the route that were already constructed to freeway standards, one at Route 16 and the other at Route 128. Notes Winters (the city) is at the intersection of Route 128. California State Highways (Pull-down) California State Highways (Tables) The Main Page
