U.S. Route 50 once ran along nowaday Route 580. Route 50 would go on a very zigzagged MacArthur Bl (in Oakland) and then follow Route 580 to Route 205.
Route 580 from Route 5 southwest of Vernalis to Route 80.
Going on Route 580, you come into Livermore on Route 84. See the link.
The first part of the freeway from Route 5 to Route 205 is a four-laner (having two lanes for each direction) with a wide median much like Route 5. After all, the route itself comes from a four-laner Route 5. When you get into the mountain pass from Route 205, however, the freeway is drastically widened. On the junction of Route 132 is an exit to Tracy via Chrisman Road. Route 132 itself will take you to Modesto. The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is on Vasco Road and southward. The BART Train to San Francisco from Dublin has just been completed. Take a ride; I'm sure you'll like it! California State Highways (Pull-down) California State Highways (Tables) The Main Page
