California's Route 192

Route 192 is from Route 154 near Santa Barbara to Route 150 near the Ventura-Santa Barbara county line via Foothill Boulevard. [CS&HC Sec. 492]

    Points of Interest

    One place you may want to look out for is Carpinteria. Just take Casitas Pass Road (to former Route 224) and head south.

    Along Route 192 is the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History. The museum features eleven exhibit halls, focusing on regional natural history, including birds, insects, mammals, marine life, paleontology, Native Americans and the Chumash Indians. The Lizard Lounge features live reptiles and amphibians. It also houses a life-size Blue Whale skeleton, a planetarium, an antique natural history art gallery, a museum store and special programs featuring outstanding lecturers and films. From Route 192, the museum is south on Mission Canyon Road (somewhere between Routes 154 and 144). For more information, call (805).682-4711.

    Continue further south on Mission Canyon Road and you will find Mission Santa Barbara.

    Truck Routes and Terminal Access

  • Route 154 to Route 150: The KPRA advised for the route is less than 30 feet.

    Notes

    This route serves as an effective and scenic alternative to Route 101 between Ventura and Santa Barbara.
