    Notes

When the description mentions "Los Angeles", it's really referring to Wilmington, an oil refinery town near Long Beach. The town does belong to the City of Los Angeles, even though it's at the harbor and near Terminal Island.

Many maps, especially older ones, erroneously sign this highway as Route 47. The portion from Route 1 to Willow Street is not a state highway anymore; it is considered "U" mileage, that is, it is unrelinquished. As Route 47, a freeway routing from Willow Street to Route 405 was once adopted.

The Junction of Routes 47 and 103.

Since it goes to the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, the freeway is usually full of trucks and the such, even though it's not connected to any other freeway.
