California's Route 405

615. Route 405 is from Route 5 near El Toro to Route 5 near San Fernando. F&E System Entire route. Freeway Entire route. It's called the San Diego Freeway, although in reality the freeway doesn't come close to San Diego. Status Signed as an Interstate highway. History The freeway replaced the once infamous Route 7 that ran along Sepulveda Blvd and thensome. The first part of the freeway was opened somewhere in 1955 (?) from Route 22 west and then north to Route 5. Points of Interest If you want to go to Wild Rivers Water Park in Irvine, get off on Irvine Center Drive and head south. The entrance will be to the right. Also there is the Irvine Meadows Amphitheater. The Orange County Fairgrounds is on Fairview Road and then southward. Hollywood Park is on Century Blvd and then eastward in Inglewood. The Great Western Forum is on Manchester Bl (Route 42) and then eastward. Notes As Kurumi once noted, Route 405 is a continuous rush hour, all 24 hours. It's one heck of a freeway with one heck of an attitude (so may the drivers). Almost all the time, even in midnight, the freeway is filled with cars and trucks, even though they may be traveling at a fair and fast speed. Route 405 from El Toro really goes west for about 35 miles. Then, before coming up to Route 105 and LAX, you make a transition to the north. Where the freeway pivots is called the South Bay Curve. Route 405's importance is shown as it comes in contact with LAX on Century Blvd. The exit has been totally remodeled, and it's a very busy place. The airport is on Century Bl and then westward. UCLA is on either Sunset Bl or Wilshire Bl heading east. If you are heading north, though, an additional exit is located on Montana Ave. The National Cemetery and Veterans' Administration is on the Wilshire Blvd exit. Route 405 makes its way through the following cities (northward):
