Ship's Log
(Nov 2-3, 2004 Houston Texas)
Well Election Day, along with the heavy rains here on the
San Bernard River have come and gone. Still working on the boat.
Latest project for me is the water maker. I've been applying Biocide
to keep the water maker in good working order. Today I'll finish up by
cleaning the membrane with an alkaline and then an acidic solution.
The water maker is not anything like what I've seen from my navy days -
flash evaps. This one works on the principle of high pressure osmosis.
It in effect pushes the water through a membrane, but not the salt, as the
permeability of the membrane is so low.

My
First Three Strand Nylon Anchor Rode Splice
Jimmy and I also made a quick run in a small skiff with a
kicker to extract a huge barnacled log which had parked itself behind La
Trucha. Lots of debris had floated down overnight due to the flooding.
The San Bernard came up a couple of feet as well, raising La Trucha with
respect to the dock.
Anyway, check below for a rough outline of our track.
Looks like we're headed for Mexico Isle de Mujeros (Island of Women), which
is roughly 45NM (Nautical Miles) northeast of Cancun.
