Stingers win Season Championship in thriller against the Beavers, 4-2

      The winter 2006-07 Belmont 4-on-4 league season came to a thrilling close with an exciting final game between the regular season leaders, the Stingers and Beavers. In a close and exciting game which saw stellar goaltending and plenty of exciting scoring chances, the 2 teams exchanged goals in the 3rd period, down to the last minute.

Joe Balan wins goal scoring title with little competition

      Averaging 2.5 goals per game, Youngbloods captain Joe Balan finished the regular season with 37 tallies and had no trouble to win the goal scoring title. Second place was shared by two other captains - Gordon Macpherson of the Gerihatricks and Ben Fisher of the Beavers - who had 18 goals each.

      In the 'Assists' category Jared Ginsburg of the Meercats recorded 18 helpers. He was followed by Mark Allen of the Stingers and Phil Roveto of the Beavers who shared the second place with 15 assists each.

      Overall, Joe Balan was also first with 45 points, followed by Jared Ginsburg (33 points) and Dave Cunningham of the Stingers (30 points).

      Among the goaltenders, Beaver's netminder Ricky Steczo had the lowest GAA at 3.43. Stingers' Mark Fassett was right behind with 3.58 GAA and Beavers backup goalie Ford Goodman rounded up the first trio with 4.25 GAA.
