Stingers
move on to final championship match
against the Beavers after defeating UCHP,
5-3

The
Stingers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead
on goals from Keith Taylor, James
Marihart and Dave Cunningham Wednesday
night, and held on for the win against a
surging UCHP.
The
game was marred by questionable
officiating, which benefited each team
equally, however. UCHP scored 2 power
play goals, one each from Bob Jalapour (did
anyone tell that guy this was a no-checking
league?) and Kenny Gray, to make it 3-2.
But the Stingers got a 2-man advantage
and scored (Cunningham again, assisted by
Mark Allen and goalie Mark Fassett) just
after the first penalty expired.
UCHP
got back within one after Jon Usich
scored, but Marihart hit the empty net
with 18 seconds remaining to put it away.
The
Stingers now face the apparently
unbeatable Beavers Friday night at 9:30
pm to decide the league championship.
