Computer Rules

PLEASE NOTE!

If a parent wishes to prohibit his or her child's access to the internet, such a statement must be submitted in writting and kept on file at BHS. Otherwise, the sudent will be allowed access to the internet pursuant to HISD Beliefs and Visions For the Use of Technology (available from HISD) and the HISD AUP (Document # 668.000).

Substitute (Associate Teacher) Rules

On days that I am absent, the substitute will have instructions to not allow students access to the hallway except for short bathroom breaks. You will be expected to either follow the course work I left for you or to complete the ongoing assignment, as per instructions. No internet acess will be allowed when I am absent. I have left instructions for notes to be made for every class concerning behavior, etc.

Fire Drills

The ONLY proper way to assemble outside durin a firee drill from room S360 is to go down the western-most stairwell located directly outside room S360. From there the students are to go to the athletic fields and assemble with the rest of the student body. The exact opposite path is the proper way to return to class. I always take roll again after a fire drill.

Attendance/Tardies

Attendance is mandatory in computer science. Also, tardiness is not permitted. After 3 tardies, I will call your parents to let them know of the situation, and after the fourth you get a school detention. If you know in advance that you will be tardy and inform me then usually the tardy is forgiven. Prior notice is required for excused absences and you are required to find out not only what you missed, but when it is/was due. I will not be responsible for getting these assignments to you and will not forgive zeroes for missed or lost work.

Hall/Bathroom/Library Passes

Anytime a student needs to leave the room for some reason a hall pass is needed. There is a general-purpose (locker and bathroom, etc.) pass, but a written pass is needed to go to the library, a counselor or assistant principal's office, or to the main office.

Books

Unless otherwise noted, your computer science books are needed EVERY day. If you forget your book, you will simply have to share since I don't have extra copies. If supplemental materials are handed out, then you are responsible with keeping up with them and with bringin them to calss. Handouts and such are often limited supply and it is important to keep up with yours.

Disks/Saving

You are required to save your own work on your media. You will be able to print, and everyone is required to brin at least one disk to class. All files, disks, printouts, etc. are your responsibility. The disks can be stored in S360 at your own risk.
