on the 30th of April 2002 USDA published the first list of state accredited certification bodies. We would like to inform that BCS is among the first European certification bodies with the status of REGISTERED FOREIGN CERTIFICATION BODIES under the new regulations for organic certification in the US. This means that BCS can also certify according to the National ORGANIC PROGRAM (NOP) standard.

How to become USDA-NOP certified?

  1. Send the following documents de BCS:
    - Organic Production or Handling Plan (OPHP)
    - Signed NOP-Contract
    - Copy of your Master Certificate (in case of certification by another certification body

  2. BCS will carry out the certification on basis of the BCS EU-inspection report, OPHP and - if necessary - requires some additional documents /information

  3. BCS will issue an invoice

  4. Client pays the invoice

  5. BCS issues and sends the NOP-certificate
