BECKS BYTES

Eee! Help!! Second edition
June 2002

So, the time is with us once again. After a truly eventful term at university,
I have been summoned to my real purpose in life - the Bytes according to Becks!!

In search for inspiration for this month's edition I decided to take a look on the message board and was truly excited to be greeted by the news of Shaz's wedding-how exciting!! I cannot congratulate you enough Shaz, the news has really made my day, and he likes S Club, well he must be a man of taste. Well done!!

there can be only one replacement for Paul! Speaking of S Club, did I tell you that I saw them live? I really was, quite literally, reaching for the stars, it is true what they say, there ain't no party like an S Club party!! The recent sad news however that Paul has left the band to pursue his solo career has left me hurt and disturbed. I have been forced to cut his face out of my poster. It also helps to explain the slight delay in this months edition of the Bytes, sorry about that but it was a lot for me to deal with and it has taken such an event as the news of Shaz's wedding to get me back on the straight and narrow again!

I also feel that it was about time that I give the benefit of my opinion on the world of sport, seen through the eyes of Becks Lowson. (Sorry Ed I know its not really your cup of tea but you know me, can't keep away from the sports field myself, in fact you are lucky enough to have dragged me off the tennis court long enough for me to write this)... so fellow trekkers and all lovelies, are you sitting comfortably, here goes...

Well, what better place to start than in the world of football. In the words of Coca-Cola, you should eat, sleep, talk football, but drink Coca-Cola. In all honesty, I am more of a Diet Coke girl myself, what with it being just for the GAME and the SET and the MATCH of it but nonetheless, I shall give it a go...

Held in the home of Kumiko, I think the football has been really rather excellent. I am truly proud of our boys on their return home, even if it is, once again without the World Cup in tow. At least we are still able to relish on the glory of 1966 and as for our defeat over Denmark, 3-0 was it? How did you feel about that one Mr Anders? Becks on crutches! I have to admit that in celebration, I was seen to crack open that Danish drink that you brought me at our reunion and well, put it this way, it did not entirely agree with me, there was no sick tent (on this occasion) to damage, but my yellow crutches were slightly battered as a result. Skål all round I say!

Oh that reminds me actually, for any of you who are interested, my leg is entirely better now. I can run and jump just as before, and have even been seen to bend it like Beckham myself. Always having been a lover of sporting activity I think I might just pop off and climb the Grand Canyon or something like that, you know me, love that sort of thing... might be a while before I take to the ski slopes again though!!!

Fear not sports lovers though for not all is lost! At least we still have Wimbledon to look forward to and this year, added bonus, one can be looked after by none other than the lovely Miss Wheeler, who has managed to blag herself a job at the Championships. No, she won't be taking on the Williams' sisters just yet but give her a couple of years I am sure!!! And I see that Timmy boy is topped as favourite to win... well we shall see, but if not, remember we can still relish on the glory of 1966 and, there is of course, always next year...

Funny, funny, the world of sports never fails to amuse me although I doubt Miss Wheeler or for that matter, David, will approve of my rather blasé attitudes though... sorry guys!! Speaking of amusing times, one has to pay mention to the reunion, what a fabulous time that was. Quite frankly truly excellent one could say!! Everyone was truly on fire... Kumiko came all the way from Japan for the event, Chrissie was sufficiently mummy like all weekend, (without her organisational skills who knows where we would have ended up), Ed's driving left a little to be desired (bring back Audrey or Mark any day that's what I say!!), the topgun man Tony arrived on cue with beer and crisps good man! Pat and Nina were given the privilege of my parents bed well I wasn't going to put Choi and Neil in there was I, and as for Anders, well I don't know who managed to lead the other further astray, Anders or my brother. All that can be remembered is that we left the two in a club in Portsmouth whilst Choi went off to do a me! Crazy...!

So, thanks to everyone who made it, those who didn't, I except your excuses but David, you did miss the opportunity to see the place where I learnt everything I know about vegetable chopping. 'Becks said what?!' And Shaz, we know now what you were up to. Actually am still really rather over excited by the prospect of you getting married. In fact, I am finding it difficult to sit still at my computer screen...

Also, with the pass of recent events, I feel I should make reference to the Queen's jubilee superb, two days extra holiday, I'm not complaining, and as for William and I, well I'm not one to gossip, but its just a matter of time. Shaz, fancy going on a double date?

So take care all, stay in touch and look after yourselves. Hope the summer / winter months bring happiness and fun to you all. Congratulations once more Shaz.

Over and Out until next time...
