Alone in Karbala

I was not pitched in battle against you,
Then why did you
Send me messages of love
To deceive me,
Call me once again to Karbala?
No evil had crossed my mind,
I spread both my arms in a gesture of friendship
And you put handcuffs
         on my bare arms.
I had hardly any weapons
And you brought so many arrows
Against such a small team….
Desires, Trust, Hope and Love,
My friends who were with me
You singled out each one for death,
You rendered me all alone in Karbala,
Hunted me to my death with arrows of treachery
But remember,
My consciousness is still alive,
Remember that it will not forgive

Till the very day of judgment.
