Pole Vault - Equipment

Pole vaulting really only involves a small amount of equiment - but those few items add up to a very large cost. You need a pole that are mainly $300+ dollars and as you max out your pole you will need to invest in a longer pole.

Another item of eqipment you will need are very expensive pole vault mats so you can safely land. At first these mats aren't as important, but as you start making more and more heights this becomes important so you do not get hurt as you are landing. Along with the mats you'll need the standard holders which go either side of the mat to hold the cross bar up. These structures are very large and are made out of mainly heavy metal so they don't fall over. To go with the standards you'll also need to buy either the cross bar or a bungee to put across so you have something to jump over. To add to all of this you will also need a run way so you have a place to run up to the mats and a ditch in the concrete or a proper box so you can safely plant your pole. PoleVaultingEquioment

All of this equipment comes to a very high bill so it is recommended that you join your school's pole vault team if they have one or join an organization that offers pole vaulting because then the equipment is provided and hopefully there is a qualified trainer who knows what they are doing.
