Ethan Allen may not have known much about baseball, but he was a Revolutionary War hero (along with Benedict Arnold, of all people).
This is a short but humorous story about the Hero Islands, which concerns Ethan Allen.

Pigs

It's a book about dead pigs, right? Oklahoma State has information on all the major Swine Breeds
Pork Report offers wonderful material about our porcine friends.
Keep up with the market! The Chicago Mercantile Exchange gives up-to-the-minute prices on hogs, pork bellies, and pork cuts. YUM!
For the not-so-squeamish, try the Virtual Pig Dissection.
Finally, two sites show evidence of our affection for all things porcine. The Swine Enthusiast: Porci Literari has info on books, quotes, movies, etc., about pigs.

Abner Doubleday

Abner Doubleday was long regarded as the man who invented the game of baseball. Research now indicates that his involvement in the origin of the game may have been a tall tale. However, Gen. Doubleday was a man of some fame.
