At 1881 census they were living at 6 Tufton Road, Ashford. Ruth taught him to read and write. Albert died after an emergency operation for a burst duodenal ulcer

VERRIER (Le VERRIER Family of Normandy, Mayors of Sandwich and Pub Owners of Deal)

"Verrier" in French means "maker of glass". Dating from, when surnames were given to individuals according to their occupation. There is a place in Normandy called Verrier's Ridge, which may be the point of origin of this family.
