Chapter 24
Well, we're in a nice position now. Right beside us is a door that leads us to a room of rotting corpses that have been eaten alive. While in front of us we have two monsters, one a shadow-like figure and the other a giant made out of armor, which seem to be the ones responsible of the murder of those innocent people in that room.
The titan of Armor was as tall and wide as the hallway. It's probably having a hard time moving though here. Its armor was of purplish-black, with gold outlining. Its shield was almost as big as him, and half as wide! As for it's sword, a huge broad sword in which he seems to have no problem holding with one hand. Its helmet was much like it's armor. It had a gold spike in place where its ears should be underneath the helmet. And the helmet covered everything on his head, all except it's one eye in the center of its face. It's a fully armored Cyclops.
As for the monster in front of the Cyclops, it was a shadow. It has the shape of a man, although it was complete black. Its very skin was as black as the night sky. And from this black figure, the only thing that sticks out was it's red, fiery eyes.
Mac and Connor seems terrified, more terrified than I have ever seen them before. They were actually trembling. Mac was even backing away, "N-no it's them!"
Whether or not Shadow smiled, he tone of voice seem to have shown that he was interested, "Ah, so nice to see that you two are still alive."
Connor whispered in a shaking voice to the rest of us, "I-it was those two that had k-killed everyone in our last rescue team. They're ruthless and strong"
Shadow cocked it's head to the side, "So, before you die, can you tell us where the other puny humans are hiding?"
Everyone was silent, silent but scared. Shadow seemed perfectly calm though, "Whether you tell us or not doesn't matter to me, even if we kill you before you tell us where the other humans are hiding. We'll still find them."
In anger, Chris raised his gun at them, "Not unless we kill you first!!" And he started shooting at the monster with his handgun. Soon everyone who held a gun started shooting as well.
I held up my handgun aiming as best as I could to Shadow, but it didn't matter, because the as soon as I fired I was totally thrown off balance.
All I could hear is the gunshots and the bullets hitting the floor, and the odd people who scream in anger while shooting. I looked at the monster to see if I, or anyone, had hit them. Although I was horrified to see that we weren't doing anything to them.
The bullets were going right through Shadow as if they were nothing at all! And the bullets that had passed though Shadow had come to bounce off the Armored Cyclops. Shadow was nothing more than a shadow, and the armor on the Armored Cyclops was too thick for the bullets to go through! They just stood there.
I yelled out to the others, "STOP!!! The bullets are doing nothing!! Stop shooting them!!" Although they either didn't hear me, or they just didn't want to believe that what they heard was true because they continued to fire at the monsters.
When they ran out of bullets, Mac was so scared he went and shot an explosion bomb at the monsters. And when the rest of us realized this, we ducked for cover just as the bomb exploded. When we were cleared, we all got up and waited for the smoke to clear.
In the silence, all you could here was our hearts beating and out fast breathing. And when the smoke cleared, all we saw was those two monsters standing in the same place there were always. They didn't even move an inched. And the worst part of it, is that they weren't even scratched.
"What the Hell!?" Addison screamed. We started to back away, but Connor held a bomb in his hand, ready to shoot it towards the monsters. But before he could, Rick grabbed his arm, stopping him from shooting it. Connor looked scared and confused, "What the F*** are you doing!?" Rick responded, "It's not going to do anything against him. Best to save it. We are not a match for them yet. We must retreat."
Connor looked at him with angered eyes, but soon he closed them, "Your right Ok! Let's go people!" And with that everyone started to run the other direction down the halls.
"It's useless to run, you know. You're only delaying the inventible." Shadow said as he started chasing us. Armored Cyclops was walking as fast as he could towards us. Every step it took was a big thump on the ground. It even shook the floor beneath us. It was hard to run away from it, but at least it slow. It would take it a long time to catch up with us. But as for Shadow well, he's incredibility fast.
Shadow was only a couple of meters away from us, too close for my taste! It felt like we were running for at least an hour, even though it was only a couple of minuets. We were hungry, tired, and scared, not a good combination for running. And Shadow chasing us closely behind with the Armored Cyclops not far behind isn't helping our situation.
I was looking back to see how far Shadow is, and let me tell you that my heart almost jumped out when I saw that Shadow was practically behind me! And well since I'm the slowest runner here, I was the last one and the first in Shadows path.
I was surprised when Rick pushed me aside as Shadow jumped towards me. Thanks to Rick I was saved, but unfortunately the second slowest person wasn't. Hannah was screaming as the Shadow had engulfed her, bringing her into his darkness.
Rick and me where on the floor, and I looked at the horrors of what was happening to Hannah. Only parts of Hannah were sticking out of Shadow, parts of her arm, a leg, and half her head and torso. And from this, you could only imagine what pain she was in. She was screaming and screaming, as her body was decaying... withering away.
Her body looked like the water was drained out of it, than it's change of color to rotten brown. Than slowly, it became nothing but bone. Although it hadn't stopped there, for the bone had than turned to ashes. Nothing had remained of Hannah.
Although her body had died, her head seemed to be the last to decay probably to make it more painful for her. As she watched what was happening to her body, her screams turned into a mournful cry for help. Tears where streaming down her now-withering face. And soon enough, her skull formed, and her eyes dried up into nothing The last thing I can hear before her head turned into ashes was her mournful cry echoing in the halls
Rick was already up and tells me to get up, but I couldn't move, not after I saw. So he stared to drag me. He was strong, because he had lifted me up in her arms and stared running towards the open door in which the others had found and opened while Shadow was eating Hannah alive.
Everyone was in, and I'm surprised at who was waiting for us at the door. Looks like we another survivor, for Kayleigh was waiting for us at the door. Rick got us to the door, and Kayleigh asked if anyone else is coming. Rick responded, " We're the last ones, Hannah is gone."
And right before Kayleigh shut the door behind us, she looked outside to see something. At right than I swore I saw her smiling before she shut the door. Was she that happy to see us?
She locked the door and turned to us, "I'm so glad to finally see someone alive here!"
Everyone was panting and tired. They some sat on in the classroom desks, others took to the floor. I was at the corner shocked and disgusted by what I saw moments ago. Rick stood beside me, looking worried towards me.
Kayleigh went to the teachers desk, and brought out her book bag from a cabinet, "I'm sure you're all tired and hungry. So here some food, and you guys are welcome to sleep here for the night! I'm just glad that there's someone in this stupid place!"
No one talked, so Kayleigh looked about, "Say where'd you guys get the guns?" No one talked again, she looked mad, "Come one guys! Say something to me! I just saved you guys! And now your nothing saying anything to me!"
With that, Chris stood up and walked to Kayleigh, "I'm sorry, it's just we just lost Hannah to those monsters out there. It's a hard moment for us all right now."
Kayleigh nodded her head, " I understand. Don't worry, it's only been about three weeks, and no monsters have been able to come into this room yet! So you're safe, I promise."
And before I shut my eyes exhaustion, the last thing I could remember was the smile on Kayleigh face as she looked outside into the halls
