Chapter 11

Damn last night, I had that dream again. It didnt make me get much sleep last night. And thats what makes a lot of people to hate mornings. This was no different. Every morning, I just dont feel like going to school. Whether it was Friday or not, I just want to sleep in. Just like many people I know, Callie in particular.

God, that girl can sleep. If not for her mother waking her up, she would sleep the whole day! Although she may go to sleep at midnight, shell sleep like she pulled an all-nighter! So shes tired. Im tired. Were all tired. Well fall asleep on the bus, which happens most the time. Either that, or well talk about school, T.V shows, etc.

This time, we were tired. But she still wanted to know what happened during history yesterday. Why do you care? I asked, all I wanted to do was to go to sleep. You looked like hell yesterday. Like you were in a fight or something and I know that running doesnt do that to you. She said in a serious tone, something I dont hear often from her. I looked at her, and decide to tell her everything, about Jeremy friends and Rick.

It was a long story, but she seemed to believe me. Something I thought she wouldnt do. She looked tired, but she listened. As I was finishing up my story, we arrived at school. We were one of the first buses there, so none of our friends were here yet.

As we were walking to my locker, I asked her Please dont tell anybody about yesterday. I dont want to be asked questions and most of all, I dont want Jeremy or his friends to know. She smiled and said, Sure! But youll have to let me copy down your history notes. I didnt study for that test today!! She was back to normal, and her serious attitude changed to her free self.

One by one, our friends came as time passed. We would hang around Callie locker, our meeting place. Sarah and Ashley came by and study with me and Callie, although they already had history last semester. Than Jenn came along, she was shocked about the History test that she forgot about. Than Jessa came last, walked right by us and to the grade nines

Hey! Dont even say hello to us anymore!? Screamed Jenn obviously upset about Jessa walking by without even a glimpse to us. Dont worry, Im sure Justin more important to her than us. Maybe she had sex with him last night? Said Ashley, which brought about total silence between my friends. What this about sex? said Adam, a friend of ours. Him and his friends were good friends to John, so after he left, we started to hang out together.

Though only Callie hangs around them, more than any of us. And since, theyre lockers are right by hers, why not? Adam a computer hacker and a Goth. Well, not really, he just likes to dress in black. As matter of fact, Ive never seen him in another colour. He has short curly black hair, and is much taller than I. Ok, who not the virgin anymore? asked Randy, another of Adams friends.

Hes as tall as Adam, but he has orange hair and freckles. Just like Callie, a Scottish. Callie seems to talk to him more than anyone else, except Joel. Joel is Callie badminton partner. He has black hair, and is a little stubby. Actually, Callie likes poking and pulling on his fat as an annoyance for Joel. A little game that I still dont understand. Hes usually clueless, too; What? Who did what with who?

Ohhh someone got a little frisky last night? Said Tim, another boy. But he usually talks to me than to Callie, only because were on the same bus. Tim Bell is someone who loves wrestle, jokes, and obvious guy stuff; girls and sex. Hes shorter than I am, and he has blond hair. Him and John use to break-dance together, where I would talk the picture of them. But thats all in the past, now.

Grow up! Said Callie. What? We just want to know. So who did it? said Randy, being the impatient person he is. I have to admit. Randys dad was delicious last night. Yum yum! Ashley said as she was licking her lips. Ahhh Gross! Said Tim. Yeah, and his hairy legs, wow! She said as she walked away to her friend that just arrived. Sarah left too, saying good luck to us on the history test.

Thanks! Well need it! Jenn shouted back. The guys walked away, disappointed and disgusting. The thing about Ashley is that she knows how to scare people away, which could come in handy like she did. Trust me, she can get worst. Now are we ready for the test? I asked, closing my books and standing up.

Yeah right! Im probably going to fail this one, like did to all the others. Said Jenn as if she already gave up. You really should have more confidence than that, you never know Just than, I saw someone at the corner of my eye. It look an awfully lot like Rick.

I turned my head and looked around my right to see if I actually saw Rick. But my friends must have noticed that I was distracted, Rachel? What are you doing? Jenn waved her hand in front of my face, blocking my view. But when she finally brought her hand down, I saw him; he was looking directly at us!

Rick was perhaps 5 meters away from us. I was still looking at him, unsure of what he wants. He than nodded his head to a direction, to the door that lead to the outside of the school. I quickly left my friends and went after Rick, I need to ask him a couple of questions. Unfortunately, my friends followed. Rachel! Where are you going?! Jenn yelled.

I was a much faster walker than my friends, and I can easily dodge people in the hall. But it would be impossible to lose my friends. I guess I have no choice but to let them come along. But I really wanted to talk to Rick alone. I wanted to know whats going on.

I stopped right at the door, and looked around to make sure than Rick went out this way. My friends caught up and looked at me like I was mad. Why did you leave like that? Callie asked me in a tone that kind of sounded mad. I saw Rick. I said as simple as possible. Rick? You mean your knight in shining armour? giggled Jenn. But I looked at her with a serious face; she stopped and looked a bit uncomfortable.

I looked at them with a serious face, and with a nod to kind of tell them to behaviour properly. They nodded back, Jenn gulped and still looked uncomfortable. Callie looked a bit scared. From what I told them, they dont know if hes actually a good guy or a bad guy. I had opened the door and slowly walked outside. But I was not prepared for what I saw.

For I saw nothing, it was complete dark outside. But the lights from outside of the gym gave a bit of light, and too much shadow. It was as if it was midnight without the moon outside. But I was certain it was as bright as day a few minuets ago, what happened to the sun!?

Whats going on? Why is it so dark? Callie said, confused and a bit scared. Jenn took her watch and brought in the only light near us and said, Its only 8:55 in the morning. I looked around, and it was very hard to see anything, because it was that dark. Callie walked away from the school and stopped. I followed, as did Jenn. What did you find? said Jenn.

A wall. Said Callie as she knocked on the black wall. The sound it made told us that its was defiantly not made of wood, or brick. I made kind of a bouncy sound. Wired. I dont remember a wall being around here. I said. Thats because it was never meant to be here. Said a familiar voice, Rick.

Rick? Is that you? Where are you? I said calm, but a bit scared. Dont be scared. He said calmly. I looked around, but soon, I felt someone put his or her hand on my shoulder. I jumped a little, scared, but slowly turned around to only see that it was Rick. Or at least his outline, the darkness had hid his features.

Rick? Is that you? I asked backing up a bit till I was beside my friends. Im Rick. He said in a formal voice. Why are you here? I asked him, still unsure of him. And ask him why its so dark out here. Callie whispered to me. Its dark out her because you are trapped inside a barrier. Rick answers, as if he heard Callies question. Which was a surprise to me, because I could have hardly heard her.

Trapped? Said Jenn, a bit confused. You are all trapped here, as is your school, and another school. And this wall goes all around your school, above and below. No way in and no way out. My heart skipped a beat, what did just say? Trapped, with no way out. Prisoners. Just like a prisoner.

So how do you get out? I asked, because if what he just said was true. I dont want to stay here for the rest of my life. Hmmm I would say that the power that keeping this wall up would lie somewhere in the school. Probably very hard to get to. He explained. Well this is going to be easy! All we have to do is to find some kind of power generator, and Im sure everyone is going to help us! Said Jenn, all cheered up and happy. But he said it was going to be hard to get to. I said, reminding her of it. But Im sure if everyone works together, well find it in no time. I mean, the school isnt that big. Said Callie, cheered up as well.

Alright, lets go! I dont know about you guys, but I want to get out of here! Said Callie. We head to the door, with Rick following us. As we entered the school, I noticed that we entered a hall much like T. I dont remember there being an intersection here. Said Callie as she slowed down, and her smile changed. For the next thing we saw was a walking, mutated, cow-thing. It just walked by us a few meters away. And defiantly dont remember that.! Callie said in a scared voice. For not only did our school changed, but we have monsters walking around!
