Rain poured down in steady sheets, coating in the sunset world in a hazey shade of gray. This was normal weather for the ruined town of Skelos but few ever adjusted to its frigid temperatures and haunted nights. One of the few that had adjusted, though it had been a forced change, currently strolled through the freezing downpour. Though his features were obscured by a heavy ebon' cloak it was obvious that he was distracted, a fact that was made very clear by the black and red minature dragon-like creature that was making quite a fuss over the lack of attention it was receiving. Reaching the ruins of an old palace, one of the many places that had crumbled from neglect and were now open to whatever public dare wander into its confines, the man leaned against a wall and silently welcomed the freedom from the torrential downpour. It was then, thoughtless from habit, that he reached to stroke the little beast and was instead rewarded with a sharp nip. Cursing inventively the shook his hand, scaring his companion from his perch and flipping back the hood of his cloak. Bright amber-yellow eyes flashed with anger, the elliptical snake-like pupil focusing sharply on the squawking beast whirling in the air, it's own eyes alive with the fiery red of anger. Without warning it dove at the man's head, snagging the headphones away from his ears and squawking with indignant rage before once again settling to it's perch. "Bloody hell Analent, couldn't you find a less painful way to express yourself." Myrrh murmured as he hooked the headphones around his neck and the slipped his hand into the cloak's deep inner pocket to stop the disc that was currently running. Analent's bright whirrling eyes went wide with shock at the man's comment and flooded his mind with an image of Myrrh blissfully envolved in his music despite the obvious noise Analent was making. Myrrh only chuckled and hefted a slight shrug. "Eh, well...sorry. You've got telepathy, use it." Analent gave another indignant squawk and promptly leapt into the air to dart into the rubble filled corridors of the abandoned palace. "Ack! Not again! An!!" It was no use calling the little dragon and Myrrh knew it, so with a heavy sigh he darted into the darkness after his companion. Little did he know that such a routine event would turn into something so far from routine. A surprised whistle ahead of him caused Myrrh to pick up his pace, even though he was able to see through the film of darkness he was barely able to escape the rocks that were strewn across the path but that was a hazard he could deal with. However, the man that stood at the end of the corner with Analent caught in his grasp was something that Myrrh didn't like. Growling Myrrh called out to the other. "Hey! You let him go!" The strange man narrowed his eyes, the right one glowing a brilliant, almost mechanic, golden colour. "Who are you?" His voice was soft but there was an angry distrust to his voice. Despite himself Myrrh found himself fascianted by the strange man. Ivory wings and silver-tinted skin...was this one of the legendary cyborgs of Skelos? They were said to have all been destroyed when the city fell... "I'm Myrrh, and you've got my 'lizard!" The man's expressino was almost devoid of emotion, though there was a deep sorrow in his features along with a shallow anger. Even to a third party it seemed misdirected but it was also well and apparent that this man didn't care. "What are you doing this far into the palace?" Myrrh gave an indignant snort, a sound echoed by an angry chirp from Analent. "Last time I checked the palace was open to all visitors!" The stranger dropped the writhing Analent and took a step toward Myrrh, flaring his wings angrily. "Not in this section." He said nothing more, but narrowed his two-toned eyes sharply and lifted his trumpet to his mouth. Only seconds after the little black and red lizard reached Myrrh's shoulder once more did the soul wrenching sound fill the air. It felt as if Myrrh's heart were breaking into a million different pieces before finally he felt his body weaken and collapse. |
