About CAR
The
Council on Anthropology and Reproduction (CAR) was founded in 1979. Its
mission is to build strong and active networks among scholars interested
in the anthropology of reproduction in its many permutations. CAR has
members in countries across the globe, and in professions within and
beyond anthropology. CAR is working hard to enhance its position as an
active site for networking and organizing among scholars who share an
enthusiasm for the anthropology of reproduction. CAR
facilitates networking through its Listserv, Biannual Newsletter,
Membership Directory, and special events at the American Anthropological
Association meetings. These benefits are only offered to CAR members.
Although we are a special interest group of the Society for Medical
Anthropology (SMA, a subsection of the American Anthropological
Association), you do NOT need to be a member of the AAA or SMA to join
