There
are so many ways a bookclub can go about their business and we've
found out that our way works great for us. In fact, I can't even
imagine doing things any other way!
Some
bookclubs have all members bring in a different book each time they
meet and then everyone votes for one. Some clubs have a pool of
books that they choose from and everyone reads a different book....what's
up with that?? (Those groups must obviously just want to get together
to eat and drink! Hey, but...wait a minute...that sounds like us!)
Anyway, getting back to business, here's our process:
- The person
who is having the next get-together brings four books of their
choice to the current meeting.
- After discussing
the book that was just read, the next set of books is introduced
to the group.
- The books are
passed around so everyone can have a look-see-feel of them. (Katie's
big into the fonts and the feel of the pages!)
- Then, we vote.
Majority rules. That's it and the group's decision is final. (Luckily,
we've never had a tie....not sure how we'd handle that yet.)
- We then purchase
the book and read away....until the cycle begins again.
