The Fellowship of the Ring
The Fellowship of the Ring is the first part of the three-volume masterpiece, The Lord of the Rings. It begins fifty years after The Hobbit took place. Here, Tolkien introduces us to Frodo, Bilbo's young cousin, and his faithful servant, Sam Gamgee. In the first chapters we, as well as Bilbo, learn that the ring he stole from Gollum is the One Ring, forged by the evil Sauron to control all of Middle Earth. The end of the Third Age is near and it is up to the fellowship, composed of various hobbits, a wizard, an elf, a dwarf and a few humans to determine the fate of the ring...and of Middle Earth.
