Golden Strands
By: Lindsay Davis

A gentle wind whispers through her hair
Golden strands lifted into the air
Brushing past hazel eyes that stare
Across a thousand miles

She's trapped in her thoughts, far from home
Lost in a world all her own
Believing she's better off alone
She's safe here for a while

Bound by these chains on her heart
She's lost, searching for love in the dark
Searching for a place to start
As her shattered feelings fall

Like broken glass, they spill across the floor
She'll gather them up and start once more
Constructing a wall without a door
To hide her heart, love and all

Painted Sunset
By: Lindsay Davis

Beyond the salty, golden sands
a paint box spills across the sky.
Horizon lit in a scarlet blaze
violet clouds rise like flames.
Heaven's glory reflected
in the crimson waves.

Atmosphere ignited by the setting sun,
radiating with the warm hues
of a painter's palette.
A landscape ravished
by the colors of twilight.

The whole world is waiting
holding their breath
anticipating
all eyes on me
they don't miss a thing
I can hardly breathe
I'm suffocating
forced to justify my every move
when none of this should matter
especially to you
I'm still paying consequences
for my past mistakes
can I ever move on
what will it take
to close their watchful eyes
and simply turn away
stop watching over my life
you have nothing left to say

Prisoner
By: Lindsay Davis

a prisoner of my feelings
a slave to my emotions
no controlling them
I didn't ask for this
can't change the past
one more life changed
for better or worse
leaving another broken heart behind
walk away and move on
no blame to be placed
only misunderstandings
and insticts taken too far
no turning back now
it's always worthwhile
a friend, only a friend
but a kiss will change your mind
