U.S.S. Defiant

The U.S.S. Defiant NX-74205 is a Defiant-class starship. Officially, it is classified as an experimental escort vessel. But unofficially, the defiant is a warship, it has no science labs, no holodecks, and no provision for families or diplomatic missions.

It is the only one in it's class and incorporates the latest in Starfleet weaponry and defensive technology. Originally designed to fight the borg, with the diminished threat and the emergence of the dominion, the warship is used to combat this fearsome new foe.

Equipped with prototype weapons, the most advanced Starfleet has ever designed, the quantum torpedoes are the next step in projectile weapons, they have a tracking ability and a zero-point energy field warhead capable of destroying other ships.

Another prototype device is the cloak which has been loaned from the Romulans. This renders the ship invisible in every way, enabling easy escape. The phasers have had their power doubled through a plasma conduit, this has also boosted warp efficiency by an additional 30%.

When the Borg threat re-emerges in 2373, the Defiant gets it's chance. Although it is more powerful than other Starfleet vessels it is severly damaged in the attacked, but is salvaged and returned to DSN.
