i got to country road 6, which is straight and narrow. the straight and narrow is great for driving, cuz you can go fast. and it's bad for riding, cus the drivers are fast and there's no paved shoulders. i decided to find another road instead.

tho' it's nearly may, i wore the snowmobile gloves. windy and threatening rain or possibly sleet or hail. i kept the gearing low as i headed into the wind and up the rolling hills. nevertheless, i could feel my right knee starting to go. i nearly gave up around conc. 16. every hill becomes a question mark: is it friggin' worth it?

my usual answer to myself is hardly rationale: well, the view might be nice, and if i don't want to go any further, then i can turn around and coast back down.

i pedaled on and eventaully came across cedar point road and took it all the way to the ferry.

i didn't stay long, didn't wait for the ferry to come in. the wind coming in from over the water was cold, and i was doubly cold with my sweaty clothes on by back.

on vinden i stopped by the side of the road to stretch my back. my bike was lying on the ground and i was in, well, a fetal position on my knees, i guess, and a pick up truck backs up the road and pulls alongside and short, wide, middle-aged man in blue plaid work jacket and baseball cap hops out of the passenger side and asks if i'm ok, thinking that maybe some asshole had bumped me off the road. i said i was fine, and truly appreciated him stopping.

it started raining just as i got home. my knee hurts again.
