Designed and implemented a common interface for a calculator and system clock application. A
prototype of the application was prepared first in html. Based on the feedback of the users on the
prototype, necessary modifications were made. Then the application was implemented in two steps.
In the first step the stand alone calculator and system clock application were implemented. The next
step was to integrated them in a common interface. The Features and functionality of the interface
were:
|
 |
 |
+ Keyboard shortcuts
+ Change display themes
+ Modify background & foreground color scheme of the interface using a color pallet
+ Open multiple calculator and system clock windows
+ Display hints on mouseover

Intelligent control describes the discipline where control methods are developed that attempt
to emulate important characteristics of human intelligence. These characteristics include adaptation
and learning, planning under large uncertainty and coping with large amounts of data.
Through this project, I am exploring the use of highly mobile location aware systems equipped with
environment sensors to create environment aware computing and communication systems. When
coupled to intelligent servers the sensors and mobile computers provide an unparalleled platform for
human centered information environments. The other area of study in the project is the impact of
intelligent control in human living conditions. The will enable design of ergonomically sound
intelligent control systems. The major areas covered in the project are:
|
 |
 |
+ Environment Aware Systems
+ Conventional and Intelligent Control
+ Characteristics of Intelligent Systems- Adaptation, Autonomy, Structures and Hierarchies
+ Intelligent control for high autonomy systems
+ Examples of intelligent control using environmental awareness

Involved in the design of Control Room and Recording Studio setup for Center for Education
Technology. There is extensive use of hi fidelity video and audio recording equipments in both the
space. These equipments(like, Video recording camera, audio mixer video editing board, VCRs,
monitors, beta tape recorder etc.) are operated manually by operators for long hours. Hence, an
ergonomically efficient design of the space is essential.
Process for Design
|
 |
 |
Interview and shadow tour techniques were used to understand the requirements of the operators.
Using the requirement gathered an user task model was prepared and validated by the users.
Based on the feedback and final design requirements the design direction was taken. The unique
part of the project was the use of intelligent control system in Air-conditioning, Acoustics,
Illumination and Noise control. The deliverables of the project were detailed design direction,
furnishing design, layout plan and a efficient workflow management.
