Old News & Updates (2003)

18 December 2003

There's a new Amelia (short?) film listed on the IMDB called Falling Slowly. I found the following photo and description at www.filmfestamiens.org. If I'm reading it right it's 13 minutes long.

Late summer. Along the coast, the weather is about to change. A girl leaves behind a marriage and a funeral and returns home. A boy she knew before has never left. They almost reach one another.

Jill writes to tell me that Love's Brother will be screened twice (9 Nov 17:30 and 12 Nov 15:30) at the Milan, Italy Fairgrounds at the 2003 MIFED (International Film and Multimedia Market). There is more info available at the official website www.mifed.com.

The official site at www.ameliwarner.com seems to have vanished. Hopefully it will be back soon!

13 October 2003

It's been a longgggg time since updates. Longer than I realised. Well, I just got an email to alert me to the news over on Amelia's official site. Her new movie has been announced and it's called Winter Passing, a drama that will also star Ed Harris, Will Ferrell and Zooey Deschanel. You can find the full blurb on the news page over on www.ameliwarner.com.

Also on the official site is a very nice photo of "our" Amelia from US Esquire. Worth a look.

I'll try to be more awake in the future!

Big thanks to Jill for alerting me to the Love's Brother trailer and poster image online at the Arclight films website. It is in "post-production" and there's still no release date, other than the ‘EARLY 2004’ posted on palacefilms.com.au, the Australian Distributor’s website. The poster is 184k and is in pdf format. The two-and-a-half minute trailer is a hefty 11.7 MB, but it's worth it as our Amelia is looking, dare I say it, fairly lovely.

29 March 2003

Just letting y'all know that Steve has posted the first part of an interview with Amelia over at his official site.

24 February 2003

Just a word of thanks to Amelia for getting in touch. Hopefully there'll be some news soon.

I got prompted to do a search on Amelia's new movie, Love's Brother, and here's what I found...

www.hollywood.com describes it as a "Romantic Comedy" and has this Synopsis:

Set in 1950s Tuscany and Australia, this romantic comedy tells the story of two brothers and a bride. As fate would have it, the bride arrives from Italy betrothed to one brother, only to fall madly in love with the other.

www.darkhorizons.com describes it as "a 1950’s Australian period piece from the writer/director of Shine being shot in Melbourne and Italy from mid-October until mid-January 2003. Adam Garcia, Giovanni Ribisi, Amelia Warner and David Suchet all star in this love triangle story."

Finally an Australian site reports that it's an Australia/UK Co-Production and again that it's a comedy:

"Following several failed attempts to find a bride, the luckless Angelo sends a photo of his more handsome brother Gino instead. It works. But when the beguilingly beautiful Rosetta arrives in Australia from Italy, she realises the man she loves is not her husband, but her husband's brother. (100 min)"
