Differentiation of syndromes according to the theory of sanjiao.

This method of differentiation is based upon the method of differentiating syndromes according to the theory of wei, qi, ying and xue in conjunction with the principles governing transmission and transformation of acute febrile diseases.

Acute febrile diseases result from the invasion of different febrile pathogens in the four seasons of a year. There are various types of acute febrile diseases with different features, for the invading pathogenic factors in the four seasons are different and the patients ' constitutional reaction to these pathogenic factors varies. So far as the nature of the disease is concerned, there are two categories, namely, febrile pathogens, and damp heat. Pathological changes resulting from febrile pathogens are analyzed with the theory of wei, qi, ying and xue, while the differentiation of pathological changes due to damp heat is described below.
