Sound
of the Underground
Girls Aloud's debut single. The first and probably best electric pop song I have heard in a long time. This song is just pumped full of attitude
and is a new light in the pop industry. Being dubbed as the new Spice Girls, these 5's brand of electric pop is very unique and unmatched in the music charts.
Best part: Chorus
Best Vocalist: Nadine
Best lyric: Don't know what is pushing me higher, it's the static from the floor below

Stay
Another Day
Double A-Side with Sounds of the Underground. Stay Another Day was originally sung by de-funkt
boy band East 17 who had a Christmas no.1 in 1994 with this track. Surprisingly I loathed East 17 and this track but Girls Aloud version of this track has me hooked and it's a huge improvement from the original. The only criticism I have for this is that Cheryl sings way too much solo and the other girls should get a chance at singing solo.
Best Part: First Chorus
Best Vocalist: Cheryl
Best lyric: Good times we had return to haunt me, I know it's for you all that I do seems to be wrong.

Good Advice
The bands second release. No Good Advice goes along the same lines as SOTU, it's a catchy, powerful electric pop tune which is stuffed to the brim with attitude!! The guitar riffs in this get you hooked from the very first time you hear this, and some mild language was included but a clean version is now available.
Best part: Guitar riff between Chorus and verses
Best vocalist: Nadine
Best lyric: I give the finger to the world below, hear I am dirty hands I don't give a damn, Shut your mouth cos your s**t might show.

On
A Round
Hmmm this is a very hard track to describe. The only words I can use are fantastically different. The track opens with sirens and then drums kick in and it goes crazy from there, the next thing you know you are jumping around like a maniac to this!!! All the girls share the vocals on this which is an up-side!
Best Part: Opening
Best Vocalist: Sarah
Best lyric: Don't stop now we're grooving, keep that boom boom back in sound, No need to change a thing don't touch it, keep it on a round

Sound
of the Underground - The Album
There!
I've finally got my copy of the Girls Aloud album and here's my full
review.
Some
Kind of Miracle - This has the most amazing opening, the guitar really
makes this song great to listen to. Vocals are more split which makes
it a plus, with Sarah and Kimberley getting the most solo's. The
chorus is magical, it is slightly faster than the rest of the song but it is
very catchy and upbeat. Best part is definitely the bridge as the
guitar kicks in well and it powers up for a kick ass chorus. Lyrics
are very good in this too as the chorus lines change as the song
progresses. And they use big words like incredible (ha ha!) The
ending is kind of it's downfall as it fades off so that'll be it's weak
point.

All
I Need (All I Don't) - This is a good song but there is something lacking in
the beat. It's aimed at dancefloors and it is catchy enough but the
lack of guitar let's this song go from amazing to good. Lyrics are
average, especially in the chorus where they sing the same thing all way
through. The lyrics in the verses are better however and vocals are
impressive. The beat sounds computerized rather than instruments so
maybe that is what is lacking. There is no doubt, this is a very good
song which you could listen to again and again but it isn't at the same
standard as the rest of the album. Weakest part has to be the opening.

Life
Got Cold - This is one of the best tracks on the album!! The lyrics in
this song are just mind-blowing and the beat is just magical. The song
opens as just a plain guitar but that's what makes it so special.
Vocals are split equally with Nicola getting the most as this song really
compliments her voice. This song is a typical ballad but it has a
great beat which makes it different from your usual pop ballads. It's
a mid-tempo ballad where it gets more powerful at the bridge and then just
blows up in the chorus. This is no.1 single material, it's that
great!!! This is a Christmas no.1! IT REALLY IS THAT GOOD.
This track has absolutely no weak part, all of it's just beautiful.
Let's pray that this will be a single! This is the best track on the
album!

Mars
Attack - a very fast and perky pop song. This is on the same lines as
All I Need but it has more of a rhythm and the lyrics are way better.
The opening is great, it gets your attention and keeps you listening for the
entire song. Vocals seem to be mainly on Cheryl but the other girls
get solo lines. The chorus is very powerful in this song and the beat
is very upbeat. This is the type of song that will have you bouncing
like a maniac around your room or wherever you are. Best part has to
be at the end where the girls sing 'I'll move your soul sister!' It's
like a post-chorus and it makes the song as amazing as it is. Weakest
part is the piano piece in the middle, it kinda slows the song a bit but the
chorus quickly comes back and brings the song into all out pop fest.

Stop
- One of the best openings on the album. A simple guitar plays
and after a while the lovely voice of Nadine jumps in. Drums come in,
quickly followed by a zillion other instruments and the girls vocals.
The bridge is very powerful and upbeat. The lyrics are mature and suit
the beat well. The chorus is powerful to start with but as it moves
on, it begins to dull down. The verses remain the same beat as the
beginning. The bridge brings the beat up and the chorus fuels this
song and gets you jumping. Catchy, sophisticated, sing a long
pop at it's best. Best part has to be the bridge as it gives the song
it's power. Weakest Part - second verse as the power from the chorus
vanishes and it slows back to a duller beat.

Girls
Allowed - Song written by Westlife's Bryan McFadden. This is a great up tempo
disco pop tune. The lyrics are kinda hard to follow as they are
quickly sung and the verses are very short too! The bridge is very
catchy and enthusiastic. The chorus has the best lyrics and the vocals
are very good. The best part of this song is the verses where the
vocals are switching and this beat thing just plays and it is just
BRILLIANT. The third chorus is very powerful and the girls vocals
sound well together. The last chorus is very fuelled too as the song
comes to an end. There is no weak part to this song, it's great all
way through. This is single material but you're more likely to see it
as a double A-Side and a popular song on tour. This is catchy, this is
Girls Aloud at their best, letting the world know that they ain't going
anywhere.

Forever
and a Night - This is contender to be released as the girls Christmas
single. It's a very Christmasy song and as you should know all really
slow ballads are sung by Cheryl. This is like an improved version of
Stay Another Day as that single is not included on the album. The
lyrics are very mature and this is overall a beautiful song. Best part
has to be the chorus as it has all the girls vocals and gets you feeling all
tingly inside! It is the catchiest part of the song and the girls
vocals blend well together. There is a small guitar piece between the
2nd chorus and the final bridge which is really nice. The final chorus
is fuelled with passion but the chorus just fades which kinda gives it a
crappy ending. This song is great but it could have been improved in
some way to make it THE song of 2003.

Love/Hate
- This has the weirdest opening, it's very hard to describe. It's just
this very funny noise then all of a sudden your in computerized pop.
Lyrics seem to be mature but this is a fast-paced tune so you don't get much
of a chance to hear them as your too busy jumping around like an idiot to
this. The best is catchy, perky and very very fast. One of the
good points is the slow part between the choruses and the next verses, gives
you a chance to catch your breath. Vocals are equally spread between
the five girls, with Nicola and Cheryl getting the most. The
chorus is deffo the best point of the song, for the simple fact that it's
very fast and catchy. The instrumental part between the final verses
is a bit of a downer as it would have been better with vocals in it.

Boogie
Down Love - this track goes along the same lines as Love/Hate really.
It has a deeper beat and more rock sound to it. It opens with the
words 'We've got some dancing to do' which is a kinda odd way to open a
song. the song is good but it lacks the X factor at the beginning but
the song improves coming up to the second chorus. Best part has to be
Nadine's lines just before the second chorus cos it gives the song a really
good beat and power. Unfortunately the chorus lacks catchiness and the
hook that all the other songs have as they sing Love me like 10 times.
The beat at the end makes up for this and this is an overall good song but
is one of the not so strong songs on the album.

Don't
Want you back - Some people would say this was a slushy mid-tempo
ballad. How wrong could they be. This is a ballad, and this is
mid-tempo but it has catchy lyrics, great vocals and a brilliant
beat. The beat in this is very catchy and uplifting and makes it
a highlight to the album. Best part has to be the last verse and last
chorus as power really surges through the song and Nadine's vocals pull of
some amazing parts. A weak part though would have to be Nadine's
high-pitched ooohhh in the final chorus as it is WAY too high and doesn't
seem to fit right. It would have been better left out. This is a
highlight of the album and worthy of single status

White
Lies - This is a great R'n'B sound. This is one of the stand-out
tracks on the album for the simple fact it's got more of a R'n'B
sound. It's a little slow to start but as soon as the bridge comes in,
it begins to pick up and by the time of the chorus the full extent of the
song has kicked in. The power of the song improves as it progresses
which is what you find with most songs. Lyrics are smart and easy to
learn, vocals are great and their voices suit this style of music
well. But this track has a poor ending which is rather
disappointing.

Love
Bomb - Sorry folks but I think this is rubbish. It has the
weakest opening and the lyrics are just silly. They don't really sing
the verses as it's more of talking. And the chorus really annoys me...
this sounds like a Ricky Martin B-Side. Not impressed with this
number... at all. This could be a grower but I'm not willing to listen
to it again.

Everything
You Ever Wanted - A huge improvement from track 14. This has a
very unique opening which is catchy as well as smart. Vocals suit the
song well and all is great until you reach the chorus where they attempt
high-pitched vocals. They manage it well but the chorus kinda slows
the whole beat and ruins the song a bit. Verses however are amazing as
the girls really sing this well but the chorus lacks, attitude, power and a
better lyrics. Best part has to be the opening then Nadine's lines as
it gives you a great taste of the entire song.... it's very catchy.
Overall this is a wicked song and is also worthy as single status but at the
most, it's the best track to finish the album with.
