i'm supposed to be in a meeting right now...every monday morning we have these meetings where everybody gets together and goes over which jobs are in progress and how much time is left, and such...everybody stuffs themselves into a room that isn't big enough for all of us, so about 10 of us gather around the doorway and try (not too hard) to hear what's going on.

they're a complete waste of time if you ask me. it's basically  just a time for the account executives to gloat about how much business they've brought in. nothing ever really gets accomplished...mostly people just say, i need to talk to you later about such and such...so why don't we all just get together on our own time anyway?

i'm probably just bitter, because nobody ever calls my name to see how a project's going. i've been here for a year in may and i still have nothing to do 50% of the time. when i do have something to do, it's usually just scanning or mocking, or busy work that my boss gave me so i could get my hours in. i guess i shouldn't complain...a lot of people would love to have a job that pays them to have so much freedom to do whatever they want to fill the timesheet up...but for me, it's different. i like to feel like i'm needed, and appreciated. i've been given jobs that take skill in photoshop, or something like that, but nobody seems to remember the next time that i'm capable ot whatever they need.

that brings up another issue that's a bit of a sore spot for me right now. i got a job from mary months and months ago to do a cd cover for her ex-boyfriend who has a band. she said it wouldn't take much time, probably only an hour or so, and would $30 be enough to do it? well, i agreed, simply because i haven't had many freelancing jobs, and i'd like to at least get some of my work out there...and the money wasn't really a big deal. well, it's turned into a lot more work and time than originally thought, and the guy won't even make a decision on it, or pay me the measly $30.

then, as if to rub it in, paul gets offered a job by one of the creative directors here that doesn't know jack about illustrator, to do a logo for his cousin, (which is my favorite thing to do), and the guy will pay him $700 - to start! i just wish i could get a couple of jobs like that. i just think logos are a blast.

i did some logos for "artificially flavoured" and she put them up for people to use... check them out if you'd like. click on codes when you get there, the first four are mine. i like seeing my work out there, but sometimes, i just wish i could get a paying job. i'd really love to start freelancing.

i know, i know, just quit your whining already......
