had my first pottery class last night....it was pretty fun, once we found the place. the directions they mailed to us were really crappy, and of course it was rainy and windy last night. after we drove around the park for awhile we finally found the conservatory and the correct parking lot to park in....but then we went to the main conservatory entrance (be/c that's what the directions said to do) and the guy in there sent us back outside into the rain to a completely different entrance that wasn't on the map...they must've moved the location of the class after they sent the mailings. they could've called and told us though, there were only 6 people in the class. |

once we got there - it was fun. my teacher is hungarian or something so she has a thick accent...i like her, she's fairly young and really nice. i guess she has an art studio, where she does pottery and painting - and she's in this show coming up called the saint paul art crawl.... where you walk from studio to studio and look at different artist's work....apparently you can buy things too....she gave me a map so i can attend. i think i'll see if paul wants to go. |

we can make as many pieces as we want - and we get to keep them all. i made a pot type thing last night. i could use it for a plant or maybe a big pillar candle. she said to come prepared next class with an idea and maybe some sketches or a picture of what we want to make so we don't waste any time sitting and thinking about what we want to make...i was looking through a pottery book that she brought to class and i decided that i want to make two taper candle holders - and maybe some sort of a mask to hang on the wall - and if i have time, some sort of weird sculpture just to put on my bookcase. |
