AfrEA Membership and Consultant's Database

During the inaugural conference of the African Evaluation Association members requested the creation of an African Evaluation Association Consultants and Members Database.

Objectives of the Database of Members and Consultants

The objectives of the African Evaluation Association Database are to:

·        Make it easier for governments and agencies to locate African evaluators with the specific skills they need.

·        Enable evaluators in Africa to widely circulate details of their availability, skills and experience.

·        Improve networking of evaluators in countries in Africa by making a list of evaluators in that country available.

·        Provide a roster of persons interested in evaluation work in Africa to facilitate the circulation of information about training and other events.

·        Provide a basis for developing and communicating information about and within African Evaluation Association.

As of December 2000, details of somewhat over 450 evaluators are listed in the database, which is currently available on this website in a country by country format, in printed form and on diskette as a searchable database.

Using the database on this Website

To obtain a list of evaluators in any country click on the country button on this page.  Country files that contain a larger number of evaluators, such as that for Kenya, may take up to five minutes to download on a basic 28.8K modem/line.  Most others just take a minute or two.  Please be patient.

Obtaining the searchable version of the database

A searchable version of this database is available on request (in MS-Access on CD-ROM) to national network focal points and to agencies seeking to employ evaluators in Africa.  The searchable version enables searches to be undertaken for specific skills and types of experience.

Joining the Database

To be included in the database of Members and Consultants, simply click on the "Registration" button, print the registration form and send it in.  There are no charges for this service.  Completed registration forms should be sent to Mahesh Patel, POB 44145, Nairobi, Kenya.  E-mailed forms should be sent to [email protected]

Acknowledgements

The African Evaluation Association Database was created by Austin Mueke and Mahesh Patel with the support of the UNICEF Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office (ESARO) and financial assistance from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway.
