The hosts
We are a Colombian couple, born in Manizales. We have two children; Simon and Natalia aged 16 and 9, respectively. I am a sports medicine doctor and my wife, Vilma, is a microbiologist. We are the owners of three apartments intended solely for adoptive families, where more than 150 families have stayed. Additionally, we are pleased to support families because the procedure involves significant changes for both parents and children.
You have spent almost two years on administrative procedures with a country that, unfortunately, does not have a good reputation, in terms of security. Colombia's reputation may make this period in your life particularly distressing. We understand that you may require personal support from the Colombian people. This support is what we aim to provide.
During the first days, the adoptive parents will discover a country different than the broadcast media image. A country with social and political problems like many others but with a friendly, hardworking and welcoming population. A country with an enormous wealth and a lush beauty. A country aware of its childhood difficulties that has decided to give up some of its children as an act of love.
