[The bitter disappointment!  His claim to have been with an immigration official may be true.  Often a scammer who convinces a victim to travel to his country will bribe a customs official to let the foreigner through without stamping his passport.  Since he is now in the country illegally he is at the mercy of the scam artist and his gang.]
