Chapter eighteen

Alexa had her back to the clinic door, making some notes on a patient chart. Taylor was chatting randomly from the other side of the desk.

"You know, I really wish I could meet a Backstreet Boy to sweep me off my feet," Taylor sighed, then looked perturbed as Alexa chuckled.

"Oh, ya, and its all been just wine and roses, Tay." She rolled her eyes.

"Well, no. But its worth it right?"

Alexa shrugged, "I guess. No different from dating any other guy really, except for the screaming fans." She paused for a second, "And the fact that everything he does ends up in some teeny magazine, which means my smiling face ends up there too."

"Doesnt that happen to everyone?" Taylor blinked innocently until Alexa giggled, "When do they leave for the Bahamas?"

Alexa sighed deeply, "Tomorrow."

"Wow. How are you gonna deal?"

"Its not as if I cant survive without him Tay. I did live before I knew him, yknow."

"Aw, but youre gonna be all sad and lonely now." She skimmed through a pile on the desk and held up a handful of files, "I got charts. Talk to you later." Taylor took off and Alexa turned her attention back to the file in front of her.

She was just finishing up when she felt a pair of arms slip around her waist. Sighing, she turned, intending to give AJ a lecture about professionalism. Instead her lips were caught by his before she could speak.

"Hey," AJ released her, and she took a step backwards, failing in an attempt not to smile at him.

"That is not what I intended to happen. We cant do this here."

AJ shrugged, "Alright," Grabbing her hand, he pulled her toward an exam room. He peaked inside quickly, making sure it was empty before pulling her inside and shutting the door. "Better?" he asked before kissing her again.

"AJ." She pushed lightly at his chest, as he tried to kiss her again, "Alex."

"Damn, the real name, this is serious."

"What do you mean?" Alexa looked at him for a second before asking the question.

"Theres only two times you call me Alex. When youre mad at me, or when were..."

Alexa interrupted him, as she blushed slightly, "Okay, nevermind... forget I asked."

"Youre so serious," AJ smirked, "Youre just taking care of a patient." He raised his eyebrows at her, seductively, over the familiar sunglasses. "Come on, Dr. Reeves, I need your medical care." He advanced toward her again, and Alexa laughed.

"What you need is psychological care, McLean." She kissed him quickly and turned to leave the room.

"Not so fast." He grabbed her arm and spun her back around to face him, pulling her close to him. "You busy tonight?"

She sighed, comfortable in his arms. "Might have some plans with a skinny, tabooed guy, why?" AJ let go of her, and Alexa stepped to the door.

"Enough with the tattoo jokes, you know you love em. Besides, without them, youd never have met me."

Alexa laughed and started to open the door. "And this would be a bad thing, how?" She giggled as stepped through the door and over to the nurses desk, where shed left the paperwork shed been looking at before.

AJ stepped close behind her, and whispered, "My place tonight. Youll find out how it would be a bad thing."

"AJ?" The house was dark. Alexa peered into the hallway, confused when not even the dogs greeted her. "Aje? Where are you?" She started to feel her way along the wall, searching for a light switch. "Ow!" Her elbow hit something hard, and she cursed, before muttering to herself. "Where the hell is he?" She took a few tiny steps, and then screamed as she was suddenly lifted off her feet.

"Right here, baby." His breath was warm across her ear, and she shivered as he set her back down on the floor before kissing a light path from her ear, down her neck. Alexa couldnt help the moan that escaped her, as he turned her to face him and then pressed his lips to hers.

They kissed until Alexa was nearly out of breath, his arms pulling her tighter to him, and her fingers playing with the hair at the back of his neck. When they parted, Alexa took a moment to catch her breath, before hitting him on the shoulder. "Dont ever do that again. "

"What?" Even in the darkness, Alexa knew exactly the facial statement he wore: the confused, puppy dog face.

"You scared the hell out of me. Dont do that!"

She felt his breath on her neck, before he placed a light kiss there. "Forgive me," he said between more kisses. "Itll never happen again."

"It better not," Alexa replied breathlessly as he led her down the hallway, barely pausing the kisses along the way. "Whats with the dark?"

"I got plans. We got time to make up for." He turned her around to face him, "You came here right from the clinic." He played with the strings on the hospital scrubs she was wearing, and Alexa nodded.

"It was a long day," She was confused as he led her to sit down on the stairs.

"Wait right here."

She sighed, "I dont even get to sit in a chair?" But he was already past her down the hallway.

"You wont be there long," she heard him call back at her.

Alexa sighed again, and put her elbows back on the step above her, leaning back on them. The next thing she knew he was standing beside her smiling, "What?" She sounded whiney.

"You were sleeping," he chuckled, and she glared at him.

"You left me on the stairs. In the dark." She pouted, and reached up a hand for him to pull her to her feet.

"For about a minute." He kept hold of her hand, and led her down the hall. "Dont pout, doesnt suit you. Youre gonna love me in a minute anyway." He stopped outside the bedroom door, and looked at her before grandly opening the door. "For you, mlady."

There were candles in evey corner of the room. Alexa took a minute looking around her. "Wow." She turned to face AJ. "Thats a lot of candles."

He looked slightly offended, "Too much?"

She walked around the room, and blew out one candle after another, "Maybe a little." She left two still lit when she stopped a few steps away from AJ. There was still enough light to see his face as she reached out to him, pulling him toward her, "Much better." His hands slid over the skin beneath her shirt, lifting it off and over her head, before settling back at her waist. He grabbed her hands as she tugged at his shirt, "Uh uh. This is all about you, baby."

A silent sigh of frustration escaped her but she didnt have time to argue before his mouth descended on hers. His fingers skimmed the skin at the top of her hospital pants, then played with the tie at the front until the kiss broke.

"I ever tell you how much I like you in scrubs?"

The tie loosened and the pants fll in a pile at Alexas feet. She stepped out of them, and hooked one finger in a belt loop of his jeans, pulling him to the bed with her. "Just because theyre easy to get me out of."

His grin said it all, as he pushed her back, on to the bed, and kissed at her neck, her collarbone, the top of her breasts, his fingers drawing a path which his lips followed. Alexas hands pulled at the fabric of his shirt, frustrated that she couldnt touch his skin. He finally allowed her to pull it over his head, before tossing it across the room, and continuing the path of kisses. As his lips traced down her breast bone to her navel, his fingers found her most sensitive spot, and she ran her fingernails across his shoulders.

"Alex..." His name was barely a whisper but he met her eyes when he looked up.

"What do you want, baby?" He knew what she wanted. It wasnt hard to tell, but he wanted to hear it.

"I want you, Alex..." her voice trailed off in a moan as his fingers moved inside her.

"In time baby, youll get everything you want. Weve got all night."
