Who and what is the ACR?

The ACR is the Anglican Community of the Redeemer, Ashmont, Wagga Wagga.  It is an Anglican parish church in the Canberra-Goulburn Diocese.  The ACR was dedicated in October 1981 having divided from the St. Paul's Turvey Park Parish to better serve the needs of the Ashmont largely Government housing estate area.  It is a body of Christian people caring for each other and their wider community.

It is, and always has been, very much a community attempting to fill the needs of members and the wider community of Ashmont spiritually and socially and supporting those in need.

The ACR is family central with children encouraged to participate in the Services by reading, singing and generally helping.  It has regular social events which are always family orientated such as barbeques, games-evenings and scavenger hunts.  These are particularly appreciated by single parent families where everyone cares for the children.

The Community is keenly interested in social justice issues and  since 2001 has expanded its modest building to accommodate offices for family support organisations, social workers and counsellors  to provide their services in the local community of Ashmont during business hours  Monday to Thursday.

Our aim and song aptly sums up the ethos of our Community of the Redeemer.
