Mission Statement

Vision We recognise …

1. ‘Christ sets people free’ - We uphold the ministry is always Christ’s ministry and never ours (individuals)
   (scriptural edict - ‘Christ is head of His Church - the body. Eh 5:23)
   We therefore

• Follow ‘consensus decision making’ (scriptural edicts - ‘It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and us …’ Acts 15"28; ‘… be subject to one another out of reverence for Christ’ Eph 5:21; ‘maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace’ Eph 4:3)

• Trust Christ to meet our needs and to be active among us.Entrust all things to Him in prayer (scriptural edict - ‘Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Jesus Christ for you’ 1 Thes. 5:17)

• Engage in a spiritual warfare by praying before and after all activities in our life together, including all activities held in the "Redeemer’s Community Centre’.

2. Freedom is found in Christ and His body’ … We seek freedom to have a relationship with God, the people of God, and all of God’s creation where we are enabled to see as God sees and act as God would act.
   We therefore

• As Christ’s body provide a supportive ‘haven’ for all.

• Worship together as Christ’s family.

• Fellowship together as God’s family.

• Develop and provide effective and appropriate teaching and nurturing patterns for all people, recognising the need to share and learn together over God’s word to be found in Scripture.

• Encourage and empower all within the body to discover their ministries and the gifts of the Spirit - to act bold, stand tall, be confident in the authority that we have been given! We accept that authority within the church requires accountability both to God and the body so we see the need for ‘a calling from God as tested by the body ‘for leadership roles within the church including Parish Council, Ministry Council and Worship roles.

• Undertake to provide appropriate prayer and other support mechanisms for people in direct and indirect ministry (eg. prayer chains, intercessory prayer groups, training seminars)

• Commit our time, talents and money to Christ’s work through His body, the Church.

3. ‘The setting of people free is a journey’ … We join the journey reflected in the life of Jesus and His Church.
   We therefore

• Undertake to engage in this journey as formalised in the Seasons of the Anglican Church’s year and reflect these in our worship and our life together (in prayer, in readings and study).

4. In our lives … ‘All people are to be respected and given the dignity of being God’s unique creations’
   We therefore

• Commit ourselves to exercise the church’s prophetic role, where appropriate, to ensure the ‘marginalised’ have access to a fair sharing of the resources of the wider community, whether they be financial, social, cultural or political i.e. to address any unjust or destructive structures of our society.

• Endeavour to provide a relationship between the local community and the wider Kingdom of God - activities ranging from … direct ‘acts of compassion’ including welfare involvement; acts of pre-evangelism and evangelism including local ‘seeker’ activities (e.g. fun-days in the park, special services), local person to person witness and further afield witness in mission endeavour; and recognition of communion of saints in prayer cycles and involvement in diocesan and wider church programs.

• Herald the gospel of Jesus (good news) to all people.
