During this decade, the country name was changed to "Pilipinas", with the first issue [Scott #855, Ngo #273] in
1962. Prior to that year, all stamps bore the country name PHILIPPINES. This series featured the portraits of historical persons from Manuel L. Quezon, the First President of the Second Republic to Jose M. Panganiban. Denominations also changed from "c" for cents to "s" for "sentimos" The evolution of fonts used in the country name is a key for distinguishing specific year of stamp publication. Generally, four types of fonts for the word "PILIPINAS" were used in succession from the 60's to the present.
Two series were issued during this time. Portraits Series of 1962-1969 which featured Manuel L. Quezon, Marcelo H. del Pilar, Jose Rizal, Jose Burgos, Lapu-Lapu, Rajah Soliman, Cayetano Arellano, Sergio Osmena, Emilio Jacinto and Jose M. Panganiban (12 issues).
The President Series came out in
1963 until
1973. Each president from Emilio Aguinaldo to Carlos P. Garcia were honored with two stamps (10s multicolored and 30s multicolored), respectively.

1968, Philippine Fauna (A200) on January 8,
1969 to open the Hunting Season and Butterflies (A209) on
September 15, 1969.
