| We alighted at McCalister
Road, and walked to a open-air hawker centre along the road. The area covered
actually was quite big- about 20 by 40 metres (roughly)- with stalls forming
broken perimeters along the McCalister Road and on the sides. The courtyard
thus formed became the place where people ate- sitting on red plastic chairs
around white round tables. We ordered laksa, char kway-teow, fried chicken
wings, fish porridge and chilli stingray. Good meal.
After the meal, we browsed briefly at a couple of roadside stalls, selling handmade figurines on sticks, and fruits, among other things. As for going back, we spotted a couple of taxis opposite a hotel and were finally ferried back to our apartment.
