Apparently elaboration wasn't forthcoming for the confused Quatre as Duo changed mental tracks. "C'mere Wufei, I'm not grouchy anymore, he's still breathing no?"

"Yes. He seems to find something quite funny." Wufei walked over to the couch and took a seat right in Duo's lap, eager for some snuggling.

"Er...Duo? What do you mean? Did you get anything out of Trowa, or should someone else try?" Quatre looked worried.

Duo looped his arms around Wufei. "Cryptic bastard!"

"Huh?" Quatre sat back. He really had no clue what was going on. "Well, uh... Huh?"

"Kites." Duo poked at Wufei, telling him he'd have to translate.

"Trowa said he flew kites for a living." Wufei said, trying not to laugh and bit his lip.

"Nanashi." Duo was doing the one word thing, tired out from dancing around Trowa.

"Nanashi..." Quatre spoke and turned pensive for a moment, closing his eyes and leaning his head back.

"Hey... What's everybody doing?" Trowa asked as he came into the room and looked around.

"Kite boy." Duo lifted his gaze to Trowa.

Trowa blinked. "Kite boy?" he asked.

Heero turned to look at Duo before looking to Trowa. "You're awake."

"I'm not talking to *him*. Zechs was still a bit upset over the drunken tackle, obviously.

"I was sleeping?" Trowa asked, his gaze flicking over to Heero. Trowa crossed the room to go sit on the floor near Quatre. Duo growled lowly, wanting badly to smack the boy.

"Yes, you were. What do you remember last?" Heero lifted an eyebrow.

"You talkin' to me?" Trowa pointed at himself.

"No, I'm talking to the ghost behind you." Heero's voice was deadpan, not a hint of indication that it was sarcasm evident.

Trowa turned around, biting his finger nervously as he did so. "But there's no one there." He looked at Heero funny. *Is he drunk?*

"I said behind you Trowa." Heero was getting amused, playing with the drunken boy. His humor had emerged with his sexuality.

Trowa turned and looked again. "There isn't anyone there!" He looked terribly confused.

"Heero!" Quatre hissed and threw him a dirty look.

"Look up!" Heero drew Zechs amused glance as he ignored Quatre.

Trowa crossed his arms over his chest and pouted. "No. I told you there's nothing there, what are you drunk?"

"Of course not, you are. Trowa, do you have a bug on you?" Heero petted his fingers through Zechs' hair.

"Of course not. Stop saying silly things." Trowa scooted closer to Quatre, as he could protect him from this silly boy.

"But Trowa, what do you call that brown thing in your hair?" Heero quirked his lips.

"What brown thing?" Trowa asked and tangled his hands in his hair.

"Heero! Knock it off!" Quatre hissed again this time louder.

"No, it's on your shoulder now!" Zechs could get into *this* game.

"There's nothing there!" Trowa cried, seemingly very frustrated with this game. "Quatre! Your friends are weird!" He shouted this in frustration a moment later after chasing the invisible brown bug.

"Trowa..." Quatre eyes narrowed and he placed a hand on Trowa's forehead. "You're not just drunk are you?" Zechs watched the pair, pouting that his fun had been ruined, but settled back into the petting.

Trowa looked embarrassed and tried to pull away from Quatre. "Trowwaaa..." Quatre warned and gripped his shoulder. "Don't lie to me."

"He didn't *say* anything." This was Zechs' louder whisper, and it drew a chuckle from Duo. Wufei looked up with interest, wondering what was going on now. Trowa leaned up and whispered something into Quatre's ear.

Duo and Zechs both strained, trying to hear it. Hawk hearing and Feline hearing were good things. "Didn't quite catch that."

Quatre suddenly smacked Trowa's forehead. "You idiot!!! Don't you remember what happened the last time you took those!?! Oh... I don't believe this." Quatre shook his head. "Don't worry, we don't have to switch safe houses."

"What'd he take?" Duo was interested now. Heero just stared at Quatre, waiting.

Quatre crossed his arms and looked at Trowa, his expression was one of 'Well?'

"Speak *up* already." Zechs turned his head, staring at Trowa who only fidgeted nervously.

"Psychedelic mushrooms with a combination of acyllitic acid? Trowa are you insane?" Wufei broke the silence.

Trowa looked up at Wufei, and nervously looked around the room. "What?"

"*EH*???" Duo turned his attention to Wufei with that, as did Zechs and Heero. Trowa hadn't said a word.

"What?" Wufei asked calmly looking at Duo.

"He didn't even *breath* that answer!" Duo was still staring at Wufei. Duo's nose twitched. "Now I know why he stinks though."

"Yeah he did. He said 'psychedelic mushrooms and acyllitic acid, but I don't want them to know.'" Wufei looked at everyone else in the room, scowling slightly.

"But Wufei..." Quatre spoke up and leaned forward, he was feeling some strange things coming from Wufei.

"Not out loud. He didn't even say that to Quatre!" Duo was leaning toward Wufei. "What'd you do to the stove?"

"I didn't do anything to the stove." Wufei answered, his position shifting a little on Duo's lap.

"You can tell me later." Duo hugged Wufei tighter. "So how'd you know what Trowa was into?"

"How did you know that, Trowa never said anything...." Quatre looked down to Trowa, wondering if Trowa had ever spoken to Wufei about his habits.

"He just said it!" Wufei yelled, answering them both, very frustrated now.

Heero was studying Wufei consideringly. "Wufei. Perhaps you heard something that even the two long haired ones could not."

"It was loud and clear." Wufei countered, rolling his eyes at Heero.

"Fei, if it were loud and clear, I would have been able to hear it. Please stop being so loud." Duo leaned his head back from Wufei, a faint smile on his lips.

"I'm not being loud." Wufei lowered his voice a tad. He grit his teeth; his expression one between scowling and pouting at Duo.

"To me you are. My hearing is greatly improved. From what I can tell, Zechs' is sharing that curse." Duo barely whispered the last part.

"Damn right I am." Zechs huffed a sigh, leaned back against Heero's chest as he turned his body.

Wufei glared at Zechs out of the corner of his eyes. "That's not my problem," he growled softly.

Duo squeezed Wufei tighter. "How could I not have heard Trowa? I should have been able to hear too. So how did you hear him?"

"Trowa said it. How can you not hear it if your hearing is improved?" Wufei asked. "Because he fucking said it as clear as fucking day! Am I the only one who heard it?" Wufei yelled, now he was pissed.

Zechs muttered lowly, only Duo able to catch the words. "Rude little git. Of course he's the only one that heard it."

Duo frowned. "Be nice Zechs! Yes Wufei, only you heard it." Wufei growled and looked at Zechs, death on his face. The temperature in the room was slowly rising. Duo glared at Wufei. "Behave! I don't understand why you two can't just get along with each other!" Wufei glared back. He brushed a stray piece of hair out of his face as he did so. "He's been adjusting. Wufei, why can't you do that too?" Duo softened his expression a little but not much.

Wufei wiggled a little. He looked around the room at everyone else suddenly feeling very hostile. *How dare they accuse me of strange things!*

Duo's nose twitched as he realized how upset Wufei was getting and ceased glaring. That nose thing was getting to be a habit. "Wufei?

"What?" Wufei said, dangerously close to snapping, had it been anyone other than Duo.

"Why are you upset?" Duo practically wilted in the face of Wufei's ire.

Wufei threw some glares around the room. "Idiots." he spat, pulling away from Duo to cross his arms in front of him.

Duo pulled his arms from around Wufei, resting them on the sofa cushions instead as he slouched down a little. He didn't like Wufei being so upset like this. Wufei remained on Duo's lap, fuming silently for several long minutes, silently daring anyone in the room to call him crazy.

"I just waned to know why you could hear and we couldn't." Duo's voice was quiet, all of his earlier happiness and emotion wrung from his tone.

Wufei sighed loudly and rolled his eyes. He was very, very frustrated. "Because you all have selective hearing." He said trying a different route.

"No, I have very good hearing. You just heard on another level entirely." Again that quiet emotionless tone, none of the others willing to speak. Duo moved Wufei to the side and drew his knees to his chest, resting his chin on his knees. Defensive.

Wufei pulled his legs under him and crossed them, and then recrossed his arms over his chest, glaring at anything that caught his vision. Trowa and Quatre had left, presumed to be trying to get Trowa to sober up. Wufei growled silently. *I'm not crazy. Trowa said it!*

"If you weren't so angry you might notice we aren't accusing you of anything." Heero didn't look at Wufei, instead running his hands through Zechs' hair.

"I'm not angry." Wufei denied.

"Yes you are. Don't lie." Duo closed his eyes, dipping his head so his forehead was resting on his knees instead of his chin.

"I'm not lying." Wufei countered. He took a deep breath. Duo didn't even answer, letting his silence speak for itself. Wufei glared at the couch on the other side of the room, slowly wishing it would burst into flames. Duo lifted his head as Wufei got even angrier, concerned, but unable to figure out how to calm him. Wufei fidgeted a little, his anger still rising. Duo reached out, resting his fingers against Wufei's shoulder lightly. Wufei turned to Duo slowly a neutral expression on his face.

"Why?" Duo moved his fingers away quickly, meeting the smoldering eyes.

"Why what?" Wufei asked, confused.

"Why are you so mad? It's practically rolling off you..." Duo trailed off, still meeting Wufei's eyes as he brought his arm back around himself.

Wufei said nothing, but he did calm down slightly. Duo's nose twitched and he lowered his head to his knees, but not once broke the eye contact. Wufei just stared back, before looking away and taking a deep breath. He lolled his head to the side and sighed. Duo stayed put, his fingers extending to touch Wufei again lightly. Wufei leaned closer to Duo's touch, not fully aware of it. Duo relaxed, sensing that Wufei wasn't about to lash out anymore. He breathed a small sigh of relief. Wufei sighed again and scooted closer to Duo.

Duo smiled slightly, the expression faint. "Better now?"

"Mm-hmm." Wufei sighed and leaned his head on the back of the couch closing his eyes.

A loud crash came from the next room, followed by an even louder exclamation of "Damn it Trowa!" The temporary peace of the moment was shattered just that quickly.
