What is in a Network?
Terms
Computers in a network are connected by hardware and software.
Hardware is what physically connects the computers in the network. For example:Computers can be connected by:
- telephone lines
- fiber-optic cables
- routers and gateways
- finally computers themselves can be physically connected
Software is what enables us to use the hardware for communication and exchanging information between the computers on the network.
Network Administrators manage the network and make sure that it works smoothly.
