Program aides are Cadette and Senior girls who enjoy helping with younger Girl Scouts. They go to a Core training and then Specializations. The Core training is basic information about teaching and who to share and be aware of the needs of the group they are helping. In a specialization class Program Aides learn how to teach the topic area to younger girls.   For example; at the Arts and Crafts Specialization they do not do Arts and Crafts, they learn teaching skills so they can share what they already know about Arts and Crafts. Usually Program Aides chose areas that they enjoy to take the specializations in. When a girl becomes a Program Aide she has committed to give 25 hours of service to helping younger girls.  Sharing her skills.

Program Aides are never to be considered adult replacements. They are there to aide the adult. And Program Aides are never to left alone with the girls. And a Program Aide does not have to have a Specialization in an area to share. They come to teach and share. They are not babysitters or clean up crews.

Leaders can look at the list provided by Circle T and contact the Program Aides or their leaders anytime.  Most of them all love camping and just can't wait to share their talents, and then there are those who prefer to be songbirds. Just ask them.

Program aides are always looking for place to help. They need the service hours.
