HERE ARE THE BROTHERS OF KAPPA ALPHA PSI...

...PHI NU PI UNTIL THE DAY THEY DIE!!!

This picture shows a combination of both ALPHA XI and THETA ETA brothers on the Florida A&M University campus, right after a GREEK SHOW. I will attempt to name as many as I can for your viewing pleasure. Doesn't all of that KRIMSON AND KREME and those special GREEK LETTERS look GOOD!!? You have to be a part of "the FAMILY" --- TO FEEL IT!

I will attempt to name as many of the brothers whose faces are fully shown on the picture, and tell a little about them (that I can remember). Starting on the back row (standing) from left to right:

1)Ray Fonseca
THETA ETA - #5-The Players - FALL'77
Ray and I became good friends before he pledged Kappa. We lived at the same apartment complex and hung out together from time to time. We visited each other on a regular basis until things began to change. Feelings got in the way of a good friendship, so we decided that being friends was more important. He was a quiet, kool, and very intelligent young man from the Virgin Islands with a smile that could warm the coldest heart. My buddy for awhile, but my brother always.

2)Aubrey McDuffie
ALPHA XI - #2-Kosmic Kommodores - SPR'77
(deceased)
A very nice brother who was quiet but steadfast. Now, he has reached the final shores of PHI NU PI, and has crossed over to the peace on the other side.

3)Virgil L. Speed
ALPHA XI - #3-The Force - FALL'77 - "J.C.(Cagney)"
Virgil was my buddy and a very kool Kappa. He was soft-spoken but got along well with all of the brothers and sisters. We partied quite often together. He was very outgoing and sometimes hilarious. He was definitely my buddy! One of my best friends during that time, was madly in love with this man. Virgil put the 'K' in Kool Kappa!

4)Michael Butler
ALPHA XI - Home: Jacksonville, Florida
(deceased)
Michael was my friend. He had the prettiest brown eyes and was one of the sweetest and most soft spoken brothers of THE BOND. He married Angela Shuman, and to this bond, they added two lovely boys, Michael Jr. and Marques Butler. Michael reached the shores of PHI NU PI, but left his sweet legacy to live on in his son Marques, who looks and acts exactly like him. Now that Michael has crossed over to the peaceful sands on the other side, I pray that God will continue to bless and keep his family, for Angela truly loved her Kappa man.

5)"Harry-O" (???)
ZETA CHI - #7-Gangster 10 - SPR'77
I think this may be the right person. He must have been transferred from a different undergrad chapter because, there was no line in the Spring of '77 at FSU or FAMU by that name. I do remember that he was fun to be around. He was always joking with us about things. He had the spirit of a child, but was a Kappa man through and through. He was also a true gentleman. If I am wrong about the name I've placed with this picture, forgive me :-).

6)Michael "Gip" Gibson
THETA ETA - #4-The Players - FALL'77
Michael was a smooth brother. He was so suave sometimes that we enjoyed being around him. I can remember that he was fun to hang out with, and lively at the Frat parties. At times he was quiet; usually when he'd put his 'thinking cap' on.

7)Tommy L. Curtis
THETA ETA - #2-The Spirit of '76 - FALL'76
Tommy was one of my #1 brothers. My sister Deborah and I spent quite a bit of time with him. You may check out that story (if you haven't already) in the first section of PHOTO PAGE 2. Tommy was quiet and sometimes reserved, but lots of fun to be with. We played cards, partied, and studied together. He was one of the coolest brothers from that line. May God bless him, wherever he is today!

8)Michael Chandler
ALPHA XI - #13-The Klones - FALL'76
Michael and I are "home folk!" He's always the same sweet guy that you met before. If he's ever had bad days, I was never able to tell. He was always smiling or just being nice to people. I've seen him a couple of times at home. He's an educator in our school system. The students really need him, and I know they adore him. He's a great person and a Kool Kappa.

9)Kelvin Wilson
THETA ETA - #2-The Players - FALL'77 - "Capone"
Kelvin is also from "The 'Ville with the thrill!" He was part of the line that SLOWERTHAN... took care of. Since he was "home folk," he was well taken care of. A very quiet, but observant young man. He always made you wonder what he might be thinking about. Very kool and laid back, I've never seen him get angry at anyone. It's hard to imagine Kelvin even raising his voice. I see him from time to time here at home. He hasn't changed much, he probably just a little wiser.

10)Lionel A. Acosta
ALPHA XI - #6-The Klones of '76 - FALL'76
A young man who truly deserved the term "pretty boy!" If I have the correct name with this face (and I think I'm right), this brother was NOT stuck up and he was not hung up on his looks. Yes, he's definitely 'cute,' but he didn't play that role. That's what I liked so much about him. He was down to earth and a very nice brother. [sure hope I'm right about the name :-)]

11)Charles "Krunchie" Mack
ALPHA XI - (other info unknown at present time)
My "Big Brother Krunchie" was a terrifying man! And he IS as tough as he looks. But, Krunchie is a gentleman. He's also from the "'Ville" as well (lots of good people come from our city). After we became Kittens, Krunchie became one of my favorite brothers. He was always there to look out for "his Kittens!" You may read more about him on THE FIRST PHOTO PAGE. He'll always be a special brother!

Now these are the three Nupes kneeling in front of the Nupes just named, from right to left:

12)A KOOL NUPE FROM ALPHA XI
Although I can't remember his name, this was a quiet brother. He wasn't around the frathouse much when I was there. I remember seeing him at parties and many other functions, but he was not on the scene all of the time. He was very nice and very much a gentleman.

13)James D. Stephens
THETA ETA - #6-The Players - FALL'76
This was our quiet 'little brother.' He was part of the line that SLOWERTHAN... looked out for. He was such a gentleman and a kool Kappa. When he was pledging, he had the most determined look on his face; at times I saw fright, but the big brothers were usually around during those times :-). He was a nice, quiet young man that wears the greek letters of KAPPA ALPHA PSI --- very well.

14)Kenneth Webster
ALPHA XI - #9-The Kosmic Kommodores - SPR'77
Kenneth was a trip! Sometimes he was kool and laid back, then sometimes he would make me laugh. He was much fun to be with and to talk to. Our conversations would sometimes get deep, but he was very intelligent and could hold his own with me (because I could sometimes dominate a conversation :-)). He hung out with us at the frathouse from time to time. Kenneth was a nice brother that I really liked.

I must include some names, frat info, and brief description of brothers who were also very special. These names are not mentioned on any of the other photo pages, nor are they in any particular order. Sorry, there were no photos of these wonderful Kappas available!

James Earl Reynolds - "BAM-BAM"
BETA ZETA - Univ. of West Fla. - #7-Eleven Degrees of Unity - FALL'76
A very special brother to me, during a very special time. An extremely kool 'Leo' Nupe, with a smile that melted my heart. Too bad. Melted hearts are usually weakened, then broken. May God bless this man, wherever he is.

Marion Chisholm - "Hound-Dog"
ALPHA XI - #1-Pure Pleasure - FALL'75
A little scary as "big brother," but such a gentleman as a frat brother. We partied at the frathouse and had big fun "back in the day!"

Leonard C. Moody - "Sgt. Rock"
ALPHA XI - #11-Kosmic Kommodores - SPR'77
"Rock" was my buddy. We had really good times together! He made Deborah and I laugh on many occasions. Sometimes quiet, Rock had two sides to his personality. When he disagreed on an issue, he'd simply 'walk away.'

(The Honorable) James Ruth
THETA ETA - #7-Spirit of '76 - SPR'76
James was the quiet one. He observed most of the time. Being home folk, we talked quite often, although, he wasn't on the scene much. James must have been really into studying, he only partied at major frat functions. Every now and' then, I'd see him at a basement party. I see him 'once in a blue moon' here at home. He's still the same nice guy he was back then. Status has NOT changed this wonderful Kappa man. Be proud of our brother; he now has a TOP-LEVEL job --- he is a Judge!

Darryl L. Collier
ALPHA XI - #16-Kosmic Kommodores - SPR'77
So kool, kalm, and kollected; he played on my intelligence. This one could have gone down in history, but we never made it that far. This was a funky acquaintance in which I can't call him my friend or buddy, but he'll always be my brother. He definitely deserves an honorable mention.

Ernest Lane
ALPHA XI - #8-Kosmic Kommodores - SPR'77
A very "down-to-earth" brother. Ernest was the same all of the time. He was fun to be around because you could 'be yourself' around him. He was Vice Polemarch for the years 1978-1979. We were all crazy about Ernest. You HAD to love him :-)!

Stephen Wardlaw - "Radar"
ALPHA XI - #10-Kosmic Kommodores - SPR'77
My brother from PHILLY! Radar wore the koolest glasses and definitely had his own style. That's what was so unique about him, there was only ONE RADAR! We had really fun times together. We partied at the frathouse from time to time. We have also had serious conversations as well. He was a true brother and friend.

Stephen Craig Stokes - "Steve"
ALPHA XI - The Klones - FALL'76
I met Steve when we were pledging. My sister Deborah already knew him and we "ran into him" one night after a pledge meeting. We were supposed to go straight home, but we were starving!!! So, we went to "WUV'S" (which is long gone) to get a bite to eat; Deborah saw the car pull up, we were already inside ordering...TRAGEDY!!! There was no point in trying to make a run for it. He knew who we were. After introductions, he and Deborah talked for a while, so all was well. However, some big sister spotted Deborah talking to Steve and we were in trouble all over again! Anyway, Steve has a black belt in Martial Arts (I don't know the style), but is generally a very soft-spoken man. HE CAN GET MAD!!! When he does, CLEAR THE FRATHOUSE!!! His frathouse roomate KARL GHENT, was also skilled in the Martial Arts. When they had disagreements, it was time to GET OUT OF THE WAY! I won't go into all of that. Steve was a good friend to have and a wonderful brother. He has always treated me like a lady and he was very much a gentleman.

Gregory Beacham - "Beech-nut"
ALPHA XI - #22-Kosmic Kommodores - SPR'77
Greg Beacham was krazy! I don't know why I liked him so much. He was NOT the same all the time. Just like Taurus goes, he was moody. We danced sometimes at the frathouse parties. He socialized "all over the place!" He didn't like to sit or stand still long at all. An alright person, but krazy! Definitely Beech-NUT!
