| We were so glad to finally remodel the kitchen! Under layers of ceramic tile, subfloor and two layers of linoleum flooring lay a beautiful wood floor. We refinished the floor and kept it natural. The cabinets we kept. One set (not original) over the refrigerator I painted in a deep green to match the green granite countertops. The granite is called "uba tuba". The backsplash is tumbled marble tiles (4" x 4") with 3 decorative fruit tiles (over stove) and some 1" x 1" tiles as accents. The design is mine and we laid it ourselves. The lower portion of the walls are painted sheets of beadboard and the top I painted using Ralph Lauren Suede paint in two shades to achieve the diamond pattern. The potrack was a find (and a steal!) at an old used stuff store. I think it used to be an old floor or window grate. It works beautifully as a pot rack! The wooden structure to the right of the dishwasher is a radiator cover I designed and built. I wanted it to look like a piece of furniture and guests always ask what is in the old "cabinet"!
