The front hall is colorwashed over original plaster walls in three shades of taupe. The stencils are from Jan Dressler Designs, except for the circle of flowers stencil on the colorwashed ceiling in the entryway.

The freestyle design over the arch took 40 hours to achieve - would have been easier to freehand paint I think!  I always like a touch of whimsy, so that is why I have birds flying up the stairs - out of a real birdsnest perched on top of the window frame!

The shutter is a treasure we found in the attic. It is one of the original shutters on the home.  Our intent is to use it as a pattern and recreate all the shutters and hang them as they were in 1929 (the year the house was built).
