Diva
was born on November 18, 1999, in Olds, Alberta.
Now
put your big head down, and go to sleep baby. I love you my Grump, my little
sweet pea.
Diva
Von Der Wacther Engel (MEANING
" Diva, from our GUARDIAN ANGEL")
The
story behind the name...
The
most amazing thing about Diva, is her kennel name. Von der Wacther Engel
means "from our Guardian Angel". I guess the story behind the name goes
back to Diva's "Auntie Tanya", she is the proud owner of soon to be champion,
Naeco Von der Wacther Engel, Diva's beautiful sister. It is one thing to
have such a beautiful girl, that cleans up at the dog shows, but
Tanya is a stunner herself.
I
decided that dog shows are not my thing, but I took Diva to the Calgary
show today, and Diva HATED it. I can't blame her, it was an awful place
for a dog to be. However Naeco takes the show in stride, Tanya handles
her, and Naeco NEVER stays there. Tanya only shows her in local shows,
so this is possible. How a person could send their dogs off with a handler,
to places that are strange and stressful, are incomprehensible to me. Tanya
started showing Naeco for fun, and she is learning how mean people competing
against you really can be. I think that I like Tanya so much because she
reminds me of the way I was, when I was her age. Now that I am sounding
old, I am not THAT much older then she is...No really
I
can say that Diva and Naeco look alike, aside of Diva being bigger and
heavier in bone structure. It makes me feel so proud to see Diva's sister
winning out in the show ring. It feels like a piece of Diva is out there
winning. It is nice to brag about it, even if it is not my dog.
Well,
back to the subject at hand. Diva's kennel name makes me feel like she
was a gift from my beloved Grumpy Girl. I took Sheena's death EXCEPTIONALLY
hard, and still have a big problem dealing with my loss of her. However,
Diva has helped me enormously, to get me through my depression.
When
I discovered Diva's registered name, and the meaning behind it, I
had to just say a silent teary eyed "thank you" to my Grumpy girl. I am
not a religious type of person, but I just had to wonder if indeed, Diva
was in some way, destined to be mine. All of Sheena's life, I said
that she was MY Guardian Angel. Her presence made me feel safe, and
she was my good luck charm. I would always rub my Grumpy, and make a wish.
The last wish that I wanted did not come true, as Sheena died.
I
often look up at the sky and see if there is a brighter star up there.
I wonder where Sheena is??? I ponder about life, and its mysteries. I often
wonder if there is such a thing as fate and destiny. Was Sheena's time
here over, and she sent Diva to me to be my new angel.
I
really hope so. But did my Grumpy really have to die, so I could bring
Diva in my life. Why could I not just have both of them?

People
are always saying how lucky my dogs are to have found me. I always disagree.
Sure, I admit that they saw me coming...
I
was fortunate enough to meet Judy at the dog show the other day. She is
the proud and happy owner of Misty, my Diva monster's sister. Judy was
kind enough to send me a couple of pictures. They are old, and she will
send some updated ones soon. You don't realize how wonderful it is to have
contact with people that have your dog's siblings. You make great friends,
and have the luxery of knowing the health of the other pups.
