Time Line
TIME LINE:
1989 September: The Soviet Union begins to collapse. A military coup takes over the government.
1990: The Soviet Union begins a massive military build up. The Soviet Union and USA reach a intense stand off.
1991 Summer: Tensions in NATO cause it to dissolve.
1992 June: Soviet Union breaks up. Military coup ends. Russia is in ruins.
1996 Summer: An Alliance is signed between the USA and Canada to form the United North American States.
1997 June 15: France and UK sign a military alliance, soon called the North Atlantic Freedom Organization (NAFO). NAFO is soon a major world power as other European countries join.
1997 September: A Russian Navy Admiral, the only remaining commander of Russia, agrees to sign a peace treaty with the UNAS and NAFO.
1998: Yugoslavia starts to break apart in civil war. NAFO turns high ranking military leaders against their Supreme Commander. NAFO launches a small attack, but Yugoslavian leaders rebel and surrender. Seceding Yugoslav provinces get independence.
1999 Spring: A terrorist organization called the New World Order announces its intentions to take over the world, but a rival terrorist organization, supported by Libya, raids its HQ. The NWO then disappears.
1999 Summer: NAFO and UNAS abruptly bomb Libya for supporting terrorists. The remnants of the terrorist group flee to the Imperial Islands of Indonesia (III), which has a new Neo-Nazi Government.
2004 October: The III is invaded by India after a dispute over one of the IIIs islands. The tables are quickly turned when the III invade India.
2005 February: India surrenders to the Imperial Islands of Indonesia. But it took several more months before it's all occupied.
2005 Summer: A plot by the the top commander and several other commanders of the UNAS to over through NAFO's government is revealed by NAFO. After a fallout in the UNAS high command, the UNAS leadership is then reappointed and some old commanders removed and jailed.
2006 January: Russia and Israel, who both have new governments, signed an alliance. It is called the NOD.
2006 November: After numerous terrorist attacks, NAFO and also the UNAS bomb Ireland for harbouring and supporting the Free Europe terrorist organization. In several days Ireland is invaded by NAFO. Several days after that they surrender, NAFO takes over and roots out all the terrorists.
2007 March: Iraq becomes a nuisance to the NOD. NOD Forces invade and begin to occupy. This triggers other events in the region.
2007 April: Saudi Arabia seeks support from the UNAS to balance out the region. The UNAS begins to help Saudi Arabia clear out terrorists from their country.
2008 March: A coalition consisting of the UNAS, NAFO, NOD, and other countries is formed against the III. The coalition attacks the III for not withdrawing from India.
2008 April: Coalition forces invade India to liberate it from III control.
2008 June: After a fallout in NOD command, the NOD dissolves and is replaced by the United Federation of Russian Republics, and an alliance with Egypt. Also in Europe, there was turmoil in the governments of Germany, Austria, Italy and Greece. NAFO, UNAS, and UFRR stabilize the situation. Germany and Austria join NAFO, Italy joins the UNAS and Greece joins the UFRR
2008 July: After heavy fighting, coalition forces liberate all of India. Indonesia is in ruins. East Timor, West Irian Jaya, and Aceh secede from Indonesia.
2008 Summer: The South American Corporate Empire is formed with the countries of Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana and Surname. 2008 August: Fidel Castro (81) dies in Cuba. During the upheaval the UNAS invades Cuba and makes sure that communism does not stand. Cuba then becomes part of the United States
2009 January: NAFO becomes the European Security and Defence Identity (ESDI), a military alliance in Europe consisting of the countries of the UK, France, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal, Germany, and Austria. The UNAS changed to the the GMDU (Global Military Defence Union), being the countries of USA, Canada, Israel, Italy, South Korea, West New Guinea, Qatar and soon to join Saudi Arabia.
2009 February: Algeria's support of the Free Europe Terrorist Organization brings ESDI air strikes against them. Algeria trys to respond with its own air strikes, but they are mostly unsuccessful and bring further ESDI strikes.
2009 February: The GMDU has enough of Mexico's crime, corruption, and drugs spreading across the border into the USA. Forces are sent across the border and the Mexican government topples quickly.
2009 February: After a 'terrorist organization' shows up in Uruguay, SACEm military forces 'assist' Uruguay.
2009 March: The independence movement in Chechnya erupts again. The UFRRs attempt to quell the revolution is unsuccessful. Heavy losses on both sides prompt Russia to let the country have its independence.
2009 April: Having enough of Iraq, the GMDU invades the country and topples the government. Saddam Hussain is killed.
2009 April: Japan invades the Kuril Islands and threatens US military bases in Japan. After a brief military confrontation with the GMDU, Japan backs down.
2009 April - September: A Border dispute between Peru and Ecuador escalates into a major war. SACEm is soon drawn into the conflict. Peru and Ecuador ally themselves against SACEm when becomes apparent that SACEm is their common enemy. Bolivia is also drawn into the conflict. Later Paraguay, Argentina and Chile also join the cause against SACEm. South America is split between SACEm and the South American Defence Alliance. The war is much shorter then would be expected as SACEm uses controversial attacks against civilian targets (but strangely faced almost no outcry from the international community) to cause a revolution in SADA. The war ends with a SADA surrender. SACEm takes over almost the entire continent of South America .
2009 June: Australia and New Zealand form the Pacific Defence Initiative.
2009 July: UFRR collapses. Greece joins the ESDI. Egypt joins the GMDU. The Russian government remains in economic and political ruin.
2009 July: Sweden, Norway, and Finland form the Scandinavian Defence Initiative (SDI).
2009 July - August: Poland attempts an invasion of the SDI. But the SDI turns it around and takes over Poland.
2009 November - March 2010: After the invasion of Iraq, Iraqis escape to Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain. A conspiracy among OPEC nations is revealed. In order to round up the Iraqis and stop the OPEC attempt at controlling the world through the oil trade, the GMDU invades Kuwait and forces Bahrain into submission. After that, the GMDU with later help from the ESDI invades the UAE. The UAE puts up a fight but soon is overpowered.
2010 January - March: Violence erupts in Ukraine as the ESDI assists the weak Ukrainian government in purging corruption and communism from the system. Due to a threat from Russia, the ESDI sends troops to Ukraine to protect it and help repress the violence.
2010 February: Geological activity causes panic in Papua New Guinea. The panic turns to violence and unrest across the nation. GMDU troops restore order.
2010 April: After the Ivory Coast gets a new hard line government, an official is assassinated. The Ivory Coast connects the attack to Ghana. The Ivory Coast invades Ghana after is does not respond to its demands. Ghana falls.
2010 April: The Ivory Coast begins an invasion of Guinea.
2010 April: During a trade deal between The Ivory Coast and SACEm, SACEm accidentally reveals to the world its secret support of the world wide illicit drug trade. The GMDU, ESDI, SDI, Ivory Coast and other world powers all express outrage at SACEm. Tensions mount. Coalition nations demand that SACEm prove it is doing its share to stop the drug trade. SACEm allows coalition troops to be sent to assist and observe SACEm as it cleans up its drug problem. GMDU launches air strikes on drug related targets inside South America. After several incidents, including SACEm killing coalition troops, coalition nations declare war on SACEm and launch a huge naval blockade.
2010 May: SACEm invades French Guiana and launches terrorist type attacks against the GMDU, ESDI, and Ivory Coast.
2010 May: Anti-communist uprising from Ukraine spreads to Belarus where the unstable socialist government is strongly tied to Russia. The ESDI and other regional powers decide to invade Belarus to remove the government. The government is easily removed.
2010 July: Ivory Coast, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Ghana and Guinea form the Confederate States of Africa.
2010 September: The Sultanate of Malaysia and Brunei is formed.
2011 January: Luxembourg joins the ESDI.
